POR or CB

I have never seen nor been aware of an internal bus at POR. It is not necessary there. As far as I know only CBR has an internal bus.

It was there in May of this year--and it was a van, not a bus (I should have been more clear), it also ran to POFQ. I used it while I was there.

I don't think guests can depend on that. There is often some extra assistance at resorts, especially when there is a food court or pool down for refurb, but I wouldn't call it a standard amenity that can be expected. That said I don't think walking at POR is the same issue as it is at CBR, which is why CBR has an internal bus.

OP - here is a great site with info on POR/FQ

I've stayed both -- CBR wins by far! What kid doesn't want to swim in a Spanish fort pool with cannons? Everyone beats up CBR that it is too - big -- yes, it is slightly more spread out as it 2 story buildings and not 3 -- however, that also makes it a more relaxed and quiet resort also.

I have the same dilemma, POR vs CBR. We have only stayed at CBR and everyone in my family loved it. Stayed in Barbados, the walk didn't bother us at all and we were right next to a bus stop. We have POR booked for the next trip to try something new but I keep 2nd guessing it. Sounds like most people are a fan though!

Choosing a hotel is very hard. Now I'm looking at the all star resorts an pop century . They look so fun for the kids !

Remember that the values don't have pool slides or hot tubs. If either of those are important to you or your kids.

We have stayed at both and our favorite is POR. We love the grounds, very woodsy. The food court has a great selection, guaranteed to satisfy everyone. The roasted turkey is one of my favorites. There are quiet pools near every section. Bus transportation is very good even though it is a large resort. This is our favorite non DVC resort. We were a little disappointed when we found out we could not use DVC points here as we would certainly stay here again if allowed.

I've stayed at both, and I would only stay at CB again if in a preferred room with a great discount over POR or if we were driving. I just stayed there and mid September, and they were not doing split busing. And for me, it all comes down to the busing. Our room was in Aruba, so we were the second bus stop out of seven. You need to easily plan on additional 20 minutes to your time just for the bus stops within the resort, sometimes more. And that is outside of the 90 minutes Disney recommends. I had a very hard time with spending more time within the resort than what it took to actually get to the parks.

Also, the water can be very long depending on where your room is located. I don't mind the walk so much up to the food court, but with having the refillable mug, we definitely did not get our use out of it there like we do at other resorts. Our routine is to always run up and fill our mugs in the morning before heading to the parks, and with being in building 56 Aruba, what felt like the absolute furthest possible location away from the food court, it was just not possible for us to run up there and refill as often as we would like.

I really liked the food court at CB, and would actually give the edge to CB on this one.

As for POR - I love everything about it. I love the atmosphere, I love the walks to the main building, love the boat to DS. Love it.

I've stayed at both and I really liked the atmosphere of POR. CB is very nice and for young kids a good choice. I think both have fun pools. I suggest just looking on line at room tours etc. Choosing is half the fun!

I've stayed at CBR twice and loved it. The buses were great. Only waited more than 5-10 minutes once. We never had 7 stops going to the parks. Maybe 4-5. The staff was always very friendly.

The pool is a very important part of our vacation. For my kids it's just as important as the park. We have to get an awesome pool with a pool slide. CBR pool is one of the best especially with the splash pad area. This is one of the biggest reasons we don't do values, no pool slides. Also we can't do double beds anymore.

We requested Aruba 51 and were placed in Aruba, but not 51. We had a very short walk to OPR. You can also request Jamaica 45 for a close walk.

I would go with Port Orleans Riverside, having stayed at both. Caribbean beach resort buses seemed to take longer to pick up to and from the parks, and the resort is just so spread out that we never wanted to walk to the main building and it was 3 adults traveling.

Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the themeing in the alligator bayou rooms following the push to remove all alligator/crocodile likenesses from the property? I have a little boy who is pretty excited about the theme and just want to prepare him if it has changed! Thanks!

Nope, no change.
