Trying to decide between the 2 for spring break. Have never stayed at POR, but it would be in a Royal room. We stayed at AKL last summer and loved it! But of course it is about $400 more than POR for the 4 nights we will be there. We are only doing the after hour events at MK and AK on this trip, so will have a lot of time at the resort. My kids (10 yrs old twins) loved the games by the pool at AKL last summer. Do they have these same activities at the other pools? We have stayed at Pop, CSR, and CBR in the past, but those were park heavy trips so didn't really spend much time by the pool, and don't remember if they had the same.

All the resorts have games by the pools, including the value resorts.

I think AKL has more to offer in terms of stuff to do, but remember that except for pool use, you can go to any resort to partake of their activities So if you want to go look at the animals or do a tour at AKL, you can do that, even if you're staying at POR.

POR has reciprocity with PQFQ, so you can go over there to use their pool facilities, too. Google some pictures of the POR/POFQ pools - they're really nice.

My vote would be to stay at POR, and find something fun to do with the money you save. With that $400, you could buy waterpark tickets for the day and enjoy TL or BB, and still have something leftover for something else - souvenirs, food, etc. Or stay in a royal room at POR and take a boat to DS where your twins, if girls (my assumption from your screen name), turn into princesses at BBB and then go to a nice meal.

Or, if you were open to stretching your budget a little bit more, Water Park APs are $139. You could then spend every day at BB or TL. You could even go for a few hours on a day you're going to your AH event.

One thing to remember is that POR is also a boat ride away from DS if you're interesting in shopping with your daughters or going to any restaurants or QS places there. I hate bus service to DS from resorts, never had any luck with decent times getting there or back. But I love the boat ride from POR there, it's very relaxing.

If you are planning more resort time this trip then I don't think you can do any better than AKL. So much to do and they have some of the best restaurants on property.

I love POR as well ( it's our go to as a moderate resort ) but I don't remember them offering as many activities. There is fishing ( at an extra charge ) and hair wraps ( also an extra charge ) but I don't remember many pool activities.

Someone here may be able to be more specific around what else POR offers for activities.
