I am surprising my DH tonight. I just booked a 3 night/4 day vacation for our 18th Anniversary (just the 2 of us).

We will be selecting a moderate resort. I was thinking POR. Can anyone give any recommendations for any of the Mansions at POR?

Thanks in advance.

We stayed at POR 4x & every time we requested the Magnolia Terrace. It's a beautiful section that has a nice quiet pool & is a very short walk to the main pool. We got some drinks there & took them back to the quiet pool. Don't miss the boat downtown at night. It's also romantic walking between POR & POFQ at night--they have benches placed along the path to sit & watch the river & the other guests stroll by.

We stayed at I think Oak Manor, but after walking around I think alligator bayou was more romantic.

We just returned, saying in Paterre Mansions. Liked the location but apparently from reading some of these posts, people thought the walk to the food court and bus stop was too far! Not to us. This was the first time going without the kids and yes, POR was romantic. Beautiful walkways. Room was not as romantic as I had hoped. No 4 poster beds. Just plain headboard, but we did get the king we requested. Room was pretty plain, but we found the grounds very pretty. Paterre was a very quiet building we thought and not many people on the walkways.

My family will be staying at POR for the second time in October. I think its a very romantic resort. We stayed in Magnolia Bend and hope to stay there again. The quiet pool is very close and the walk to the main pool and food courts is a beautiful one. Regardless of how far any of the mansions are from the main building/food court, I think it would have to be a fantastic walk. I love to stand on the bridge on the way and just look down the Sassagoula. Very, very pretty. DH and I are trying to plan a weekend there for our anniversary in December and I can't wait! :daisy:

Not to confuse you, but I saw some pictures of Coronado Springs at night and it looked really (mucho!) romantic.

I was just about to recommend CSR if you are not too stuck on POR. POR is nice but CSR was just amazing. DH and I stayed there in 2001 and is was the most romantic trip for us. The resort is truly breathtaking in the evening. Plus, CSR is a bit more adult-oriented because it also serves as a convention resort. We had a king room on the 1st floor of building 4 that looked right over the lake. It was the best view we have ever had. :)

I've stayed in each of the 4 different mansions (6 trips to POR-can you tell I love it?), and I think Magnolia Terrace is the most romantic.

I would agree that for us (DH and I) the Magnolia Terrace building at POR is the MOST romantic. We've stayed at POFQ as well and have visited CSR a couple of times. We will be staying at CBR this next trip. We didn't care for CSR, that felt too busy and being from the west we weren't impressed with the theme. POR mansions are like staying in a southern romance novel.

Definitely CSR!! Talk a romantic walk in the evening around Esplanade, CSR's 9/10ths of a mile path circling Lago Dorado behind El Centro. Stop at one of the hammocks for awhile. It's simply beautiful

I thought the OP had picked POR when I first replied. Although we enjoyed our stays at POR, we love it at CSR. We will be staying there for the 4th time in April. We like CSR better because of the main pool, Pepper Market, hammocks & bus service. I really think both places can be romantic.

CSR would be my pick of romantic. The resort is stunning at night ! Love POR too and if you stay there the mansions are more romantic. But my pick for the romance thing would be CSR ~ cabanas. :love2:

I agree with the other CSR posts. CSR is very romantic. Night time brings out the beauty of this resort and pics can't do it justice. The bridge from the cabanas to the dig site is breathtaking. A stroll around the lake, swinging on a hammock, music from the speakers. I wish I was back there now just thinking about it all.
