Just wondering what everyones favourite was? We're a family of 4.

We've stayed at both Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. I voted for "either," as they were both nice and I think your favorite will depend upon personal taste and which atmosphere you like better.

That said, we travel to WDW when it's hot, and AB seems to have more shade than Magnolia Bend, so we like AB better. We also like the lush landscaping at AB better than the polished landscaping at Magnolia Bend. But, BOTH sides of POR are lovely, and I don't think you can go wrong in either section.

I voted Bayou.

I'm sure this comes as NO surprise to you. ;) Need some pics from our Dec. trip?

I prefer the rustic feel of the Bayou rooms over the more formal ones of the Mansions. Being in the Bayou section makes the whole vacation feel more laid back to me. And after running like a maniac thru the parks, I need to relax a little when I go back to the resort!:yay:

We loved the whole rustic outdoorsey feel that the AB section gave off. However, someday I would like to stay in the mansions.

I voted either as it depends on what you like better. I stayed in the bayou the first 3 times and I love the rutic/country setting and setting of the buildings and the decor inside the rooms. Southern Plantation style architecture is not something I am a fan of. But I thought the Mansion Homes looked nicer than I expected. On the fouth trip to POR I decided to take a chance and request the Mansion area and I got Parterre place. It was really nice and it truly felt like I was staying at someones estate home. Both sections are great places but they fell very different. Choose the bayou if you want a more low key feel to your trip. Staying in the mansions makes it feel like you are at a more upscale place.

I on the other hand do not like the Rustic style of AB at all and we stayed in the Mansion section because it was neatly manicured, very romantic setting.
We were close to POFQ and were able to walk there to swim, if we wanted.
The Mansion section was very Quiet.
I did not care for the overgrowth of the landscape but prefer the grounds to be manicured. We just returned from POR and I had walked thru both sections and it did not change my mind after seeing the AB section. I loved the iron work on the Mansions and each section was a different style of Southern Plantation architecture. I am a true Gone with the Wind Fan not a Duke of Hazard/Hillbilly Fan that's why I choose Mansions. :thumbsup2

I loved the Mansions,:) Did not like AB as much.

We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the bayou--and if you stay in the right building, the close walk to the food court!! :thumbsup2

we are Leaving for POR on 10/31/07, we are just leaving it up to the magic Makers at disney

We prefer the Bayou section purely because it is more spread-out. That way there isn't as much traffic outside your window or noise overhead.

I can never get AB since I travel solo and not in a group of five (been denied AB twice). But I think I would far prefer Alligator Bayou. I am bored of the mansions - I would love to see something new, but it never happens. I won't stay at POR anymore because of this. :(

First stay (DxL!!!!) it was my mom, my dd just turning 6, and myself..we were in bldg 35 in AB..way out back. So, when we went again, it was my dd, then 8, my dd, and myself. We were traveling with another family and wanted connecting rooms. We were put in the mansions..bldg 80 I think. Then, when my dd and I went back, just the two of us, we got bldg 14 in AB. Now, I would have thought, originally, that I would like the mansions better, but I don't. I love the theming of AB..I love the lush, overgrown feeling. I love just walking through that area. The formal gardens of the mansions are nice but I prefer the overgrown look I guess. Now...if they could put the more formal themeing from the mansion rooms, into the lushness of AB, I would be thrilled.
