Por less crowded

I doubt it. POR is the least expensive option for a family of five, so I think POR will continue to be booked to capacity, even with the refurbs not completed.

I tend to think so. I hope!! Plus- there are only a limited number of rooms that accomodate 5 people!!! So its not like everyone with a fam of 5 can stay there. It is sold out the week we are going, and I am hoping because all the rooms wont be done yet.

I would think so also...until March 9th when the royals are completed.

I believe they only work on 1 building at a time, so only 1 building in the resort will be out of comission. I don't think you'll notice much of a difference.
But even with POR at full capacity I don't think you will feel it, because it's spread out, and doesn't feel full even if it is.

As PP said, theya re only doing one building at a time. It will not be less crowded, but I doubt you will notice crowds except for the food court at busy times.

This. We were then in September when refurbs were going on and didn't notice much difference. We have never felt that POR ever "feels" crowded though because its so spread out.

Oh. I was under the impression that an entire mansion building was out of commission for the royal upgrades. Those looked large to me, but I have never been to POR, just looked at the maps.

There are 4 mansion buildings, each with about 250 rooms I believe. Two of the mansion buildings are already renovated and fully open, and the remaining two are being converted into royal rooms. One of the buildings being converted into royal rooms is currently being worked on and I would presume closed while construction is going on. The second building being converted to royal rooms won't be closed for construction until the first one is complete or just about completed and re-opened. That building will still have the old decor in it since it hasn't been renovated yet, but its still open.

I was thinking it would less crowded since I read that many are getting transferred to other hotels.

All that means is they are behind in the refurb and overbooked. So, odds are, the remaining rooms are at capacity.

I have never felt that POR is crowded, though. And I have been there when they were at capacity several times.

So, that could mean potentially up to 1000 guests (with 4 per room) less than the hotel normally holds. But, with a hotel this size, maybe that isn't enough less to see that much of a difference.

Potentially, but when is there ever a time all rooms in one building have 4 people in them. I'm not sure if they are currently working on Parterre Place or Oak Manor, but I wouldn't be surprised if half of the building is open while they work on the other half. Last year when the renovations first started, people reported that they were staying in Acadian House while renovations to some of the rooms were still happening.

Makes total sense from Disney's point of view. Why close more rooms than you have to?

Thanks for the info!!!
