DH & I are celebrating our 25th anniversary in October. We are planning a 3 night stay with 2 days at F&W. :goodvibes We currently have a king room at POR booked; however, I have started checking out possibly renting DVC points. My first choice is probably a Savannah view studio at AKV (the Epcot DVCs are not suprisingly already booked). We are able to get the Savannah view for our first 2 nights, but would have to move to a standard view for the last night. I've never really been that crazy about the idea of a split stay. Do you think it is worth it in this case?

I should add that we can be wait-listed for the Savannah view for our 3rd night or we can stay in a standard all three nights.

I would not do a split stay for a 3 night stay. IMO, you'd lose valuable park time packing and moving and getting everything situated again, unless you just keep everything in your suitcases the whole time, and also hassling with the front desk to move rooms. Plus theres the chance you'd be homeless for a few hours until your new room is ready. Personally, I don't think its worth the hassle for a short stay.

We have stayed in a king room at POR twice now and have been happy. Since you are doing 2 days at F&W, I think POR is a shorter commute to Epcot. Plus you will have the boat ride to DTD which is great and a much easier commute than the hike from AKL to DTD would be. Many king rooms at POR also happen to be corner rooms with two windows, so you could request one these just for an extra amenity.

Thank you, nkereina. My gut was telling me to stick with POR, I just needed some confirmation. We have never stayed at POR, but stayed at POFQ last fall and took the boat from POR one night to DTD and I thought it seemed very charming. :)

You will love POR! We have stayed there twice and keep going back. We love the quiet pools and the food court - so many options and its big so if you are traveling at a slower time of year, the resort feels empty!

I would not want to change rooms with only a 3 night stay. I would book all 3 nights at POR, or all 3 in which ever DVC property has availability for all the nights. If you are able to book standard view at Jambo House, it will most likely be a pool view (no parking lot view), and would make for a nice stay. If you book standard view at Kidani Village, you have a decent shot of a parking lot view. I would not rule out a studio at SSR or OKW. Both are close to EPCOT, have their own bus system, and have a boat to Downtown Disney. There are villas at SSR that overlook Downtown Disney, and the view is amazing.

Well, I guess I'll be in the minority when I suggest you go for the AKV split stay. For one thing, it's really not so bad to change rooms in the same hotel when you're two adults. Also, I've stayed at both POR and AKV, and once you've had a balcony, as you do at AKV, it's indispensable. And the chance to see animals (I love AKV, but pre-DVC, POR was where I stayed). But then to me, split stays aren't a problem-I stayed for only 2 nights at AKL, back when it first opened, and I asked to stay in 2 separate rooms-a different one each night, on different floors and different savannas, just so I could get a "feel" for the resort. So I definitely think it's worth it, especially for that balcony view.

In reply to Simba's Mom, and as an update to everyone else who responded, got an email today that the AKV Savannah studio (Jambo) was now showing availability for all three of our nights, so we'll be staying with the animals!! :)

While I still would like to experience POR one day (it really did make an impression on me in the short amount of time we were there to boat over to DTD last year), I have to say that I am pretty excited about our first AKV (or AKL for that matter) stay! :goodvibes

Now, I'm open for any suggestions on any room requests I should make . . .
