Planning on going next June and staying at POR. I prefer to have a car, so now what buildings would I want to stay in that would put me close to the
parking lot and also near the food courts & shop? Can it be done? What would be your strategy?
Thanks, YO

Buildings 14 and 15. Both are close to everything you have mentioned. Building 15 is closer to the parking lot. Building 14 is closer to the main building.

We are going in June 2006 as well. We will have our car but we are requesting Building 27. It is a little farther in so you don't have to see the parking lot. It is also right between the main pool (turn left) and the main building (turn right).

Could I just make a polite request? Since you ARE going to have a car, and since there's plenty of parking in front of the hotel, would you consider taking a room further away from there? It'd be easier for you to drive over to get something to eat than for, say, a mom traveling with three little kids to walk from Building 35. For example :)
You should be able to see a map of the resort at www.allearsnet.com
Click on Accommodations, then Port Orleans Riverside, then Photos. One of those will be a layout of the property.

We did just what Katieeldr mentioned. It worked out great for us this past June. We were in one of the mansions (which was real pretty) and we drove back and forth to the front all the time. It was much easier to drive over, grab a bite for breakfast, then hop on the bus right there. There were always seats since it was the first stop and it was great coming home when the kids didn't want to take even one more step to have the car right there to hop into to. The entire resort is beautiful - doubt there's a bad location anywhere in POR.

thanks for the info. 27 sounds like it might work. I like to take advantage of the property and all it has to offer. I do appreciate the thoughts.
I don't like the idea of having to take my car to go around to get food or go to the shops. I'm still not that sure it really is that far of a walk. I've heard many people talk about how far it is to walk and I'm talking about at AKL and how long the halls where, I didn't think they were that bad so I'm hoping this won't be so bad either.
Thanks, YO

We just came back yesterday, building 95 would be a good option for you also. Particularly if you don't care for the rustic theme in the AB section. We stayed in room 9728 to be exact. When looking at the map, its not the U shaped part of the building, but the part that is immediately to the right when you come over the bridge. Just a 2 min. walk over the bridge to both parking lot and main building. Our room was on the second floor/corner overlooking the quiet pool. It looks so far on the map, but it's really not. It's also very near the parking lot. Good luck. :cloud9:

Thanks, I'll have to use the link kaytieeldr :goodvibes gave to me to see the map. I just haven't done it yet. I hope your trip was great!! Do we get a TR soon? :cheer2:
Thanks, YO
