POR Good or bad?

When we were at POR in Feb 2006 the bus service was horrible for us! We had to stand about 90% of the time, we also had to wait at times for another bus to come, because there wouldn't be hardly any room on the bus that just pulled up with guests from POFQ. POR is a very nice resort, but we wouldn't stay there again. We like POFQ much better.....and at POFQ you are first on that bus! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the info.:yay: Like I said we stayed @ POFQ last year and it was great. :thumbsup2 We did go over to POR and used the main pool and did a little fishing too. It looked great but we never saw the rooms. only the main area. I'm really hoping the buses are not a problem. Where do they pick up first on POR property? If we have a choice of bus stops i would take that info into consideration.

What is the dining like at POR? Anything we should try? What is the butterfly thing and where is it?

TIA Again.:thumbsup2

Just returned, and POR just fine for us. Buses ran great both going and coming, we used the West Depot stop mostly. And purposely picked a room close to West and away from Lobby. But we rarely ate at POR, so the long walk was a non-issue. And you can always catch any bus that comes along to the West Depot and ride it up to the main lobby (just ask for sure they still plan to stop at the South Depot). All of ours did.

We saw lots of rabbits, several big turtles, and lots of baby ducks.

Checkin was blazingly fast on a Sunday.

I'm not sure I understand. Did you pick the west depot because they pick up first?I guess you can ride to the main lobby if you want to eat? (Is that the South depot?):confused3

Maybe I should get a map.:rolleyes1

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get there...

stayed in bldg 27 our first trip! LOVED IT! We asked for it again for our trip in Aug. Hoping for the same room too!
;)

We were in Building 18 last trip.

I had requested Building 27, but 18 was great as well (right next door).

So for our next trip I am requesting 27 or 18.

We have stayed at this resort twice...once in AB and once in the Mansion section...if you have 5 you will be in the AB section (Mansions do not have trundles to my knowledge)...we were in building 15 and it was only a very short walk to the foodcourt and bus stop...by looking at the resort map I would think building 14 might be a good choice also..plus it is not on a parking lot and you would not end up with a view of asphalt like we did in building 15 (we did drive this trip though so loading and unloading was easier). Our most recent trip we stayed in the Acadian House with a view of the gardens...very nice (and we only had a standard view!) Bus service during our May trip was VERY SLOW...and parks were not anywhere near busy...we would watch 2-3 buses for ALL other resorts (including the value resorts) go by before we would have one come for POR...it was like this at all parks and DTD...the bus service was NOT like this the last time we stayed at POR...not sure what the problem was....other than bus service, the resort was great as always and very relaxing. Oh yeah...No towel animals this trip and we tipped $5 everyday...kind of disappointed. resort map.... http://www.solarius.com/dvp/wdw/riverside.htm

We stayed 3 nights at POR last month and loved it. It seems to have a really laid back atmosphere. We were in Alligator Bayou and never heard a peep from our neighbours.

We had a rental car so can't comment on the buses.

We have stayed there 3 times and like it very much. Our friend Gray is the bartender there. The food court is great, the gift shop is huge and has a ton of stuff. We never care where they put us because we drive to the food court and catch the bus from there.

TyNicJen - we picked Bldg 24 or 25 to be away from the main lobby and pool traffic, etc. Indeed it was quieter and we had our own smaller pool. Also true, we picked 24/25 due to its proximity to the West Depot, which is first/second for morning pickups. So you never had to worry about a full bus. Although we never saw a full bus all week, coming or going. If you were in line, you could get on, at least standing.

For the few times we ate at POR or to use the slide at the main pool, we walked the approx 5 mins to the main lobby area. But I was suggesting for those who are 'walked out' - you can catch any bus that comes by the West Depot, and just get off at the main lobby. South Depot = Main Lobby

Hope that helps.
