Certainly, I am not an expert, but....

Last year, we were at PO-R in January, with a water view room. We got Building 14 in Alligator Bayou, and our room was on the second floor, and we could see the river from our doorway. What was extra nice about this location, is that we were literally steps from the food court, main building, bus stops, parking lot, (we drove some of the time, and bussed some of the time) etc.

Good Luck, and you are going to LOVE PO-R. We really did. Keep an eye out for armadillos while walking around at night. Being from the Northeast, we had never seen one, so it was pretty neat.

We stayed here once and had a standard view room in Parterre Place. The mansions are quite lovely and, if we did have a water view, the view would have been beautiful. We also enjoyed walking along the river to the bus stop and/or food court. It was about a 7 minute walk to both but quite enjoyable.

We've stayed @ POR 9 times & have had many different water & standard views. I always request a top floor, corner room (2 windows!) with a river view. Water view also means you may get a view of one of the quiet pools & I personally have no desire for that view or noise. Our best water views have come from AB 27. We've never been lucky enough to score a room in AB 14, although I ask for it every time. AB 27 is just a little further from everything in the main building, but it's a great location in my opinion.
We love the food court, the boat to Downtown Disney, the peaceful atmosphere, the lush landscaping, & the rustic, fun decor of the AB section. The mansions are lovely too, but our water views have always been obstructed, both in Parterre Place & Acadian House. Hope this helps. Have a great time!

This is our favorite moderate resort. A few years ago we had a water view in the Oak Manor building. It was a corner room, first floor with a wonderful view of the river and the DTD boats. It was a short walk to the bridge which went to the main building. We list it as the second best room view of all our stays. Tower at the CR with view of MK is #1.

We really enjoy the foodcourt and Boatwrights. Just a beautiful resort I am sure you will enjoy it.

As for weather in January it is just as unpredicatable as December. Could be beautiful 80s or drop down to the 30s. Best to think layers and pack for both conditions. Keep an eye on the weather channel or orlandosentinel.com. If you see a good rain one day we tend to cool down afterwards.

I think i'll try for AB14 as it seems to have such a good response from past visitors.

Thanx for the help

We are just back from POR. We were in the Bayou side in Building 24 way in the back. It was very quiet even though there were some cheerleaders staying there. Our room was in good shape and very clean.

Mickey will want to meet you for sure. Visit him at the Judges' Tent in Toontown.

Have a great time!!!!

We have been in AB #14 twice. Love the location! Had standard view both times but once had corner room - that was great! Regardless of view - you will love it!

Its nice to hear good things about your intended resort/vacation. My wife and I appreciate all the positive comments and advice.

Is everyone else going in Jan as excited or what??

Hi Dentist:

If I was going to wdw in Jan. I would be soooooo happy. I just love going to florida and wdw. Palm trees, flowers in the winter, walt disney world, nice resort. What could be better. Have fun,

Deb.

Hi....we only stay at POR! Our favorite building is Oak Manor. We always fax in our room request 4 days in advance and have always gotten what we wanted. We ask for the second floor corner room. The corner rooms have an extra window and make the room seem larger. Also, the bridge to the lobby and food court is right in front of Oak Manor.
I visited Disney in January of 2001 and it was cold. We wore sweatshirts and gloves. We just got back from Disney Dec 8, 2003 and we froze! We wore winter jackets at night and had hot chocolate all day long!

Hope you have a magical trip!!!

Cottontail,

Where in Canada are you?

My sis-in-law lives in Ottawa and we're going to her in May.

Thats another dream for us-to see Banff some day.

So much to see, so little time....

Love this world.

I am no expert, since I just returned from my first stay at POR, after staying at CBR our last 6 trips. We stayed at Parterre Place and loved it!!! Our rooms were 9545 9546 and 9547. The first two were connecting rooms.... We had a beautiful first floor view of the courtyard with fountains. It is a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The food court was good, with an awesome taco salad!!! It has a nice main pool, but we preferred the quiet pool.

You won't be disappointed!!!

Whoever I speak to seems to have liked POR. I think we'll be happy there as long as they allocate a River view instead of a pool view.

Does anyone know if the boats run to DD in Jan and if so what is the latest return to the POR ?

Hi Dentist! We stayed in Bldg 14 with a Waterview room. My recommendation is to ask for the 2nd floor. We were on the 1st and it was noisy at night. Of course with 2 little ones we were in bed by 9:30.

Have a great trip. I love POR!

I'LL FAX 4 DAYS BEFORE AS PEOPLE RECOMMEND AND CROSS MY FINGERS FOR A AB14 SECOND FLOOR ROOM.

IF NOT, I'LL CRY AND HAVE A TANTRUM AT THE CHECK-IN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS !

LOVE,

KUL:wave2:
