Due to some scheduling with my daughters activities and absences we may have to reschedule our trip to the week of July 4th when the gym is closed. So my question is what is it like at POR during that time? Is it crazy crowded? Are there tour groups staying there at that time? Should we switch to POFQ to avoid the crowds or a Deluxe? I know the parks will be packed but I am hoping that the resort will be a little less intense. TIA :)

Pretty sure that every resort will be packed, and so will the parks. Deluxe is not a buffer from the tour groups- some stay there too, just not as many.

I wouldn't worry about the resort (exceptions would be the values and CBR, the pool there is like a zoo IMO), because it is often close to full. I doubt it will be any crazier than any other busy time.

I'd guess all the resorts will be fairly crazy. CSR is the best bet to not be quiet as busy.

It's the parks you need to worry about, and it doesn't matter where you stay for that.

We usually go the first week of August (as you can see in my ticker). We just changed our trip to July 4th week too, because of a great deal we got. We are staying at CSR; we have always stayed at POP. I have heard that those two weeks are about the same as far as people in the park according to some apps that track the people in parks for each day. The longest wait I had was on Toy Story and Peter Pan and they were both about 45 minutes or so going the first week of August. Do y'all find this to be true? :confused3

I am so glad we didn't let "July 4th" crowds stop us. We were there from July 3-11, 2012 and had a super time. Actually amazed at some of the short waits for rides. Arrive at the parks early and use fastpasses and you will have no trouble doing anything you want. Besides, you can do MK fireworks on July 3rd and Epcot celebrate america on July 4th. Epcot's show is NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!! It was utterly amazing in IMHO. I would gladly deal with crowds to just be in Epcot again on the 4th. We stayed at Pop and had excellent bus experiences. Don't let the crowds scare you away from anything.

Thanks! We were planning on MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th. We are all excited!
