We have never been to WDW during a free dining promotion. We are currently booked at POR water view (2 rooms). I would rather do the preferred rooms but before I change it I am just curious about how many of each room type are generally offered the FD promo (if it is actually released to GP). Are standard rooms usually included? I know POR usually sells out quickly for FD but I am just trying to figure out what gives me the best chances as we are a family of 5 plus my parents will be traveling with us so there's very little options for us as far as mod resorts.

Disney does not release any information relating to that; they don't even release the head count of people who visit the parks. For obvious reasons, they keep everything close to the vest. It keeps them from being compared to every other place in the entire country; it is all about the illusion.

You will have no idea until you call; promos are meant to fill rooms. If a category is sold out, you will have to go to the next one up.

You did not say what time of year, you are going, but here is what happens during free dining at a popular time.

Mods will move up to deluxe, values will up to mods and off-site people will move to values.

With so many booking categories now with the mods, quite frankly the values will move up to the least expensive or standard view in order to go from QSDP to DDP.
