I am having the hardest time deciding where I want to stay for our trip to WDW in Nov/Dec 2005. We are already booked at POR, but I have been looking at pics of CBR and it looks really pretty. On those two I am torn. My husband doesn't want to stay at either. His theory is that we only need a place to shower and sleep and that we should stay at Pop. Plus, we will be saving $400+. I really have nothing against Pop, I just wanted to stay somewhere with a lot of scenery. He said it is my decision, though.
We have never been to WDW and I really need help from you knowledgable DISsers! I need your opinions! TIA!!
Oh-It is just me and my DH going for 7 nights. :wizard: princess:

We have stayed at POR twice and loved it both times. That being said, we were a group of 5, myself, my parents and my two children, so POR was our most economic choice. Two value rooms would cost more.
We loved many things about POR that we might miss at a value resort, but I'm not sure that I'd pay the extra just because of that. We love the laid back peaceful Southern charm, it's a great change of pace after a busy day at the parks. Boatwrights, the TS restuarant at POR, has the BEST breakfasts I've ever had. The boat to DTD is so pleasant and the scenery so beautiful and it's a nice change of pace from the busses. You also can use the pool at POFQ, yep legal pool hopping (in most cases you can't pool hop but it's fine between POR and POFQ because they are sister resorts). Also Bob Jackson, the all ages piano man in the River Roost lounge is a ton of fun for the whole family.
Now, if we were only 4 and could fit in a Value room, we'd probably go that route. Like your husband said, we mostly just shower and sleep in the room. From our first trip, we decided to plan some "down time at the resort" for this past trip. I think the kids would enjoy the BIG themes of the value resorts.
I'm not sure if that helps or just makes it more confusing. Good luck and pixie dust your way!

For your first trip, it's going to be more about the parks than the hotel room. Granted, the hotel can be a part of the experience that is pretty nifty if you stay onsite, but it's not everything. I say, save the money and stay at POP. The there will be other trips when you will be more inclined to spend more time at the resort and then you can trade up a bit. We loved POP and considered staying there again in December. This is our 4th trip involving WDW since we got together and our 3rd stay onsite. We wanted something a little better/different than the values for this trip. We will most likely stay at POP or the All Stars again....sometimes you just have to change things up.

We really like POP we have our 3rd stay at POP booked for Sept.
We have stayed at CBR before but were disappointed. We like POP much better. Hope you have a very magical first trip to WDW! :flower:

I just got back from POP and it was definately magical. We had a blast from beginning to end. As we were leaving, we went over to POR to look at it for a poosible future trip. It was so big that even the worker that was taking us to a room got lost. Now, my opinion is if they get lost and they work there, what is going to happen to us if we go? CBR seems to be very nice. POP is right across the street (practically) from there. We didn't stop to look at it but what I have heard about it is it is a good resort. My answer would be for POP. I loved it and I woud go back today if I could. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who has given me advice...it looks like I may be cancelling POR and going to Pop! I noticed when I read other posts about Pop, that the people who have stayed there really love it and really have not had any problems with the resort.

Well, it didn't take long for me to figure out that Pop sounds like it is the best resort at this time for us. I am planning another trip for next Christmas with my in-laws and my parents and our daughter. We will most likely be staying at CBR or POR. Thank you all for your advice....Have a wonderful evening!!! princess:

You won't regret it. We've stayed there twice and really love it, Have a great time.

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

I've done Pop and enjoyed it. We are trying CSR for the first time soon and we are excited about it.
