We will be checking into POR in two days :cool1: We have never stayed at this resort before and are getting a little nervous because of all the negative comments we are hearing about the buses at this resort in regards to people not being able to get a seat. Is it really that bad? Has anyone been recently that can give us some sort of idea as to what to expect? I know they supposedly pick up POFQ first, and then move onto POR. Does anyone know which stop they go to after that? I've heard the Main bus stop at POR. How accurate is that? Thanks so much for any insight! :flower:

We stayed there last December and never experienced one problem with the the bus system. Maybe that was because we stayed in building 14 Alligator Bayou and our bus stop was the first one. That said I cannot recall one time that anyone had to stand except the night we went to the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP. (I am sure that was because everyone was going at the same time.) Honestly we have stayed at many different resorts and while sometimes you may have to stand or wait a little long for the bus the rides are never that long and I look at it as part of the Disney experience. (I must be nuts but we were also there in July and had a car and the few times we drove to a park and it wasn't the same as taking the bus.)

We've stayed at many resorts, POR, POFQ, AKL, and BC and at one time or another, have had to stand. To my family it's just part of the Disney experience!! Enjoy

We stayed at POR last November and we NEVER had a problem with the bus service.

Hmmm...I'm wondering if some people complain because they don't like to wait at ALL or don't like to stand up SOMETIMES????

Honestly, we couldn't find any fault with the bus system at POR.

Have a fun trip!!!!

Hi!

We stayed at POR Alligator Bldg 14 from June 28 - July 7 - and the buses were pretty bad :guilty: . Most of the time it was hard to find a seat unless we were one of the first ones at the stop. I really think it was just bad timing as well....

Good Luck! :wizard:

It really shouldn't be a problem at this time of year unless the resort happens to be near capacity. In the two stays at POR and two stays at POFQ we've had, the only time we ever had a long wait for a bus or had a bus fill up was at peak park open/close time and even then it was usually just for one of the parks if it was the one that was open early that day or MK was having fireworks that night.

Most of the time the buses were very quick and if you're concerned about the timing, you can always hop the bus from the main building just to be on the safe side.

One of the criteria for our choosing POFQ over POR for our July 05 vacation was the fact that POFQ buses pickup before POR. Our thinking was that we'd always get a seat. NO PROBLEM!

PROBLEM! Here's the reality of what happened. We'd (myself Mrs. GG, DD and DS) get our seats on the bus with hardly any wait time at POFQ. We'd go over to POR as the two resorts share service and by the second (sometimes the first) stop the bus would be already SRO. Well, with chivalry not being dead in my household, I could not, in good conscious, let a woman "stand" next to me on the bus while I sat next to her. Nor could my 15 YO son. We'd always give our seat up. Shocked me how few other men also did this.

Bottom line, I almost always ended up standing on the bus. So much for the "Best Layed Plans..."

I just want to say THANK YOU for offering your seat to someone else!

Sometimes when we got on the bus at POR, there were no seats. My 6 y.o. dd had a hard time with keeping her balance on the moving bus. Several times, she was stumbling smack in front of young, healthy looking couples (and once in front of a family with older teen boys), and no one thought to offer a tiny girl (35 pounds, dripping wet) a seat. That said, one morning she was offered a seat, and we were so grateful.

For those who offer your seats to others who may need them more, THANK YOU!

For the record, dh and I offered our seats to kids/the elderly. Sometimes the kids refused the seat, but at least we offered.

If the kind gentleman who offered my dd a seat on the bus in August at POR is reading this--thanks!

we were there last Thurs, Fri, and Sat morning and only had to stand twice. We were in bldg 14 which uses the south bus stop, closest to the lobby. I can't remember what the first time was other then enough people got off the bus at the next stop to allow everyone to sit. The second time was Sat morning. The bus was standing rm only when it arrived at south depot and several groups could not fit on. I don't know if the later buses were better because it was the day we were leaving and we only spent a few hrs in Magic Kingdom and then had to catch a flight. There seemed to be a huge amount of people in Magic Kingdom Sat compared to the very light crowds there had been all wk.

Don't worrie about the bus!! You're going in a time when its less crowed, so you won't have any problems!!!

Enjoy yourselfs!!!

We stayed at POR in May, two years ago. We never had a problem with the buses, we stayed in a building close to the main building, and we always used the bus outside of there. We had to wait once for a second bus to MK, but we thought we might and we just went with the flow. Otherwise, there were plenty of buses, especially at night when leaving the parks. :earsboy:

Thanks everybody for such great insight! Makes me feel better. I guess it is probaby luck of the draw. Like everybody else in WDW, we have had to stand at one point or another and have seen full buses pass us, so I guess it won't be anything new. I just had visions of us never getting a seat. Oh, and I have to second the thought earlier...THANK YOU to all who give up their seats to those less capable of standing on moving buses :love1: ...Who says chivalry is dead???

24 hours from now we are ON OUR WAY!!!

Its not a problem as long as you have in your mind that you will be standing, and sharing buses with POFQ. Then everything is great.

We were there this May for our honeymoon. First time staying any where except All Stars. It was really bad... I wouldn't have minded standing if I actually got on the darn bus. I have to say leaving the resort wasn't awful, but coming home for the most part was really bad. it just got annoying for us because it seemed like other resorts went through 2-3 buses before we saw one! this annoyed us especially since we paid a bit more to stay in a moderate and found the bus service much worse. one night from MK we actually took the POFQ bus and walked.
needless to say we will be going back to a value in december!
