POR Bus

Can anybody tell me about the experience with the bus service at POR? Thamks a lot

I've heard of problems, but have always had good bus service from here. We have stayed here about 8-10 times.

I have always had great service there as well. Sometimes, you will see two buses for the same park show up at the same time, but I go at a slower time of the year....

I'm interested as well - we'll be leaving Tuesday for a week at POR!

We've had great bus service at POR and only shared a bus with POFQ one time. The buses seem to come fairly quickly too so the wait between buses is short. We've been there several times since it's DH's favorite resort of them all.

BTW thruthelookingglass, I'm jealous and I admit it!! I hope you have a wonderful time!!! It's a beautiful resort!! Be sure to ride the boat to DTD if you get the chance.

I was a little worried about a recent trip (Sept 26) since we were traveling with our DD (4.5 yrs old) and no stroller. In the morning we would head out to the main stop and would generally wait between 0 - 5 minutes for a bus. Never had to stand on the way out in the morning, and only once did it look like there were already people on board (from POFQ). Yes, I think only once we waited 5 minutes - so in general IMO - excellent!

On the return trips, it always seemed like the que for POR buses were always the last one in the depots. Which it is what it is!!!! There was only one time, where it was standing room only, and that was because we made a stop at one of the water parks. Once again, we didn't really wait more than 0 - 10 minutes on the return side.

Our only really bad experience was trying to get over to the Poly for dinner at OHana. We decided to head first to Downtown (since POR is close to DTD). Switched over to the Poly's bus and headed out. What a nightmare! It took us 1.25 hrs to get there! My recommendation for next time is to head to the MK not DTD. Then switch over to POLY. We waited to drop off at the Contemporary at least 15 minutes - the worst hotel bus depot ever! Plus we stopped at a Water Park - blah blah blah.

We had NO problems catching a bus from POR to the parks, but the lines for the buisses to get back to the resort at night were always the longest of any of the other bus queues. We are super patient people, but this really got to be a bit annoying by the end of the week. I would suggest getting to the bus stop before park close, because anytime we stayed for fireworks or anything, the POR bus lines were always a 30-45 minute wait for us to get on a bus. We actually took a taxi once.

I honestly do believe it is all luck and coincidence with these busses. We had a bad experience, but we could have gone a week later or something and it would have been totally different. The resort is lovely though!

we had no problems last year between Christmas and New Years...
We were at MK for NYE. we only waited 15 minutes for the bus. (and the lines were long). we waited over an hour before at AKL.

we were the last stop in Magnolia Bend too and almost always got a seat on the way to the parks.

Mom and I were at POR Sept. 27- Oct. 2. I would say our bus service was excellent. We never waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus at POR. Most of the time we walked right on. We always left from the main stop - sometimes we went directly to the park, other times we went to the other stops at POR before leaving for the park. Every once in awhile we went by POFQ.

I agree with the OP - at the end of the day at the parks there were huge lines for buses - but still I was impressed with the service. When we got into our line at Epcot - I thought - "Wow I wonder how long this will take?" - there were literally hundreds of people. Extra buses were called right away and at one point there were three buses for POR loading at the same time. At most we waited 15 minutes - I was amazed really.

All and all - I give the buses at POR!
