WE'll be staying at POR Sept 29 - Oct

We'll be in one of the Royal Rooms. Based on the buildings these rooms are in they're closest to two bus depots, The East and South.

Which one is best? closest to the Oak and Patierre Manors? Which one gets picked up first or dropped off first? Just curious...

Thank you! Tammy

I'm not 100% positive, but I THINK Partierre Place is preferable as it is closer to the bridge that crosses over to Old Man Island (Main pool). As far as the bus stops, I think Oak Manor may pick up first. I agree with the OP, I would check Portorleans.org just to be sure though. Have fun!!

The South Depot (at the hotel entrance) is the first pickup. The East Depot is the last of four pickups. I would strongly recommend catching the bus from the South Depot. Plan it so you stop by the food court or gift shop on your way to the bus (they are also in the main hotel building).

Since the bus is just arriving at POR at the South Depot, it will probably be empty or lightly filled. Your chance of a seat is much higher than at the East Depot (last bus stop). Same for your return. Exit at the South Depot. Then stop in the gift shop, pick up a schedule or map in the lobby, listen to Yeehaw Bob in the lounge (8pm Weds-Sat), or stop by the food court for a snack. See the horses on the dock, waiting for carriage riders. There's a campfire and s'mores near the pool at scheduled times, around 6:30. Then it's a leisurely walk across Ole Man Island to the Mansions. The walk isn't that far.

What POOHsie said!:thumbsup2 This is invariably what we end up doing. We have breakfast in the food court and then go to the bus stop outside the main building. In the evening there is inevitably something that one of us needs to get at the food court or gift shop, so that's where we hop off. And it really is a relatively short stroll back to the mansions across the bridge. (Although it seems longer with those dogs barkin'!:lmao::rotfl:)

Parterre Place is the furthest building out, closest to POFQ. There is a bridge to the left of Parterre Place, but you'd walk left, cross the bridge, then have to walk right back up the path again to get to the main buildings. Old Man Island is even further. The bridge that goes right by Old Man Island is between Magnolia Terrace and Acadian House. There's a bridge that goes across by Oak Manor also that leads to the main building I believe.

As for the bus stop, the South depot is the busiest and the "main" stop. We do as PP does, and usually go to that one after getting breakfast. When leaving from our room, we just go to the stop that's out back of our room. In your case, it would be East. Only difference is that there is less people at any of the other depots besides South.

I'd request Oak Manor, and use the East Depot http://allears.net/acc/portorleansmap.jpg it's generally the last pick up so goes straight to the parks. It's also pretty close, esp if you are close to the Magnolia Terrace building.
Parterre Place is far from everything, esp the main pool.
I don't like the South Depot (main depot) because it's always so crowded. I've never had a problem getting on a bus in the East Depot, and it's much more relaxing, then hassling with the crowds at the main depot.

As others have said, South depot is first to be picked up and in very busy times the bus can be full before it gets to the last stop. I'd suggest planning on taking the bus at the south depot especially in the morning. Just for reference...we were at POR at the end of sept last year and th buses never got too full for the last stop.
