POR Buildings 16, 18, 27

Has anyone stayed in any of these buildings lately? How have they been? I'm looking for a non-smoking, refurbished room. I think I read that building 18 allows smoking. Is that right? TIA!

I posted a little while back asking if 14 and 15 were done yet. I did read a post from someone who stayed in 18 (smoking optional), and they said there was no smell of smoke, and they were told they were the first to stay in their room since it was refurbished.~~

I am staying here next week, and when I called directly to the resort to ask about the buildings that were refurbished, she said that 14-18 were not done yet and would not be done by the time we were arriving. I requested to stay in one of the mansions instead since I know they are finished. I do know that all of the other buildings in AB are done however, just not 14-18.

AB 27 has been refurbished - we stayed in it in Dec. We always ask for this bldg. - top floor, corner room, and usually get everything we request. It's a great location - close to the main bldg, South bus depot, and old man island. There's no chance of a parking lot view, either!

For those of you who have stayed in building 27, how long (approx.) was the walk to the food court?

we stayed in building 24 in Oct/Nov and it had been refurbished. It was MILES to the food court - maybe there was a faster route, but I felt like we were winding in and out of many buildings to get there

Please help - I need to know which building to request for POR Magnolia. We would like to be near the big pool, bus stops and food. Other than that, I'm not too particular TIA

Am I wrong, I thought all the French Quarter section of the Port Orleans resort was renovated and they had moved on to the Riversude?

Yes, the posters seem to be talking about buildings at POR--Riverside; the different sections are Alligator Bayou and Mansions.

I call the resort (POR) and they said all renovations were complete. I am now wondering if this is true. I thought if i call the resort directly the would know ..... I guess not.

I am at POR right now. Arrived a week ago, getting out of Central Mass just in front of the blizzard. The only thing I had requested was to be in AB non-smoking. Much to my delight, (and my elderly mother), we were put in AB #14, upstairs, corner room, riverview from both windows, exactly 32 steps to the food court door.

Everyone is correct, this room as not been refurbished, however outside of some normal wear and tear, the room is perfect. Clean, with no musty smell from the heater at all. There was no fridge in the room on checkin, a quick call to housekeeping resulted in one being delivered before I had finished bringing in the luggage.

I noticed work vans parked outside the side of the building yesterday and today that were not around last week, so I think they are starting the renovations here now.

I called POR directly twice. The first time I was told that all the buildings have been refurbished. The second time I was told that all the buildings in the 30's have been completely redone. The other buildings are in process and some may have some refurbishment done. If anyone knows which buildings have been done, I'd appreciate the information.

They said that all the mansions have been renovated. However, we want to stay in the Alligator Bayou section since it has trundle beds.

I talked to the POR resort reservation person and she told me the mansions have trundle beds too.

AB 27 is less than 5 min. from the main bldg. You can go straight into the food court from the side door in about 3 min. It's a great location - very quiet with a wonderful view of the lush landscaping.
