I posted this on the POR info thread, but I'm in a hurry to send a fax, so I am creating my own thread. I apologize, I'm sure this had been asked a million times, but I couldn't find anything when I searched.
We check in on Friday and I want to send a fax request today for buildings. We booked 2 standard rooms in February and, since then, my SIL became pregnant and my mom was diagnosed with a severe form of vertigo. We will eat at the food court 1-2 times a day and refill our mugs frequently. I was hoping to request buildings that would be close to the food court. I know this is just a request and not a guarantee at all, but just wondering which buildings would be closest.

Looking at the map it looks like 16 or 17, but then it also looks like 38 or 39 may be close as well, walking over the bridge, past Old Man Island. So, which ones should I request?

I'm not sure about distance, but just wanted to make sure you know those buildings are 2 floors and do not have an elevator! Not sure if that makes a difference. The Magnolia Bend rooms do have elevator access.

I do, we are 5 per room, so have to be in AB.

Magnolia Bend looks to be as close as you will get as closer rooms have special categories according to online maps. My first year I went with my mother she was having issues with her asthma. We booked over the phone and we only thought there were two types of rooms, water view and regular. I asked at check in if we could be closer to the main area due to my mother's asthma acting up and honestly they gave us a bit of an attitude telling us we should have booked that room. I would try calling in instead of just faxing as you can explain the situation. Your best bet may be the Magnolia building, that is where they put us. It isn't a bad walk over two bridges and through the pool area. There is a bus depot at the back too, but that is a hike since its at the end of the parking lot. The annoying thing is the buildings are big and water view is anything facing a pool or river I believe, so those rooms are often out.

We were in building 14 earlier this month and it was very close to the food court. It was also close to the bus stop.

Thanks! We have to be in Alligator Bayou, because we have 5 per room. But thanks for the suggestion!

That is a preferred building, I think. We would've booked preferred if we had known they would have had this situation. But it was not available for us when we found out.

Not sure if you've sent your fax yet, but I would honestly just tell them your situation and that you would like a ground floor, close to the food court. I wouldn't bother putting a specific building. We asked for exactly that on both our stays, explained why, and both times we were in great buildings right next to the preferred buildings. It's more helpful for them to know what you want and why you want it so they can try to meet your needs - a specific building number doesn't necessarily tell them that :)

Thanks! I sent it this afternoon, but I did actually explain the situation and told them we wanted to be near the food court. I guess we'll see what happens!

Good luck! Come back and let us know what happens! I hope you get what you requested. It's such a lovely resort - if not for being a two day drive away, I'd go there to stay and never even set foot in a park and still be happy :lovestruc

Thanks! I'll try to remember to come back and update! We have a 12 hour drive that we're breaking up in to two days, but I'm really dreading it because neither my mom, nor I are great drivers (we're both on the nervous side) and I'm used to DH driving everywhere (he's not going). So wish us luck!!! Happy to hear that it's so beautiful, btw!

Good luck my daughter and I did a great deal of the driving on our last trip.

we choose a slightly longer route to avoid DC we did drive 19 hours strait

I just got my room text and we got adjoining rooms in building 16! I didn't even request they be right next to each other, just in the same building and I'm pretty sure that building 16 is as close to the food court as you can get without paying for preferred, so I'm thrilled! However, we've been stuck in traffic and left my aunt's in GA, about 5 hours away from Disney, at 10 am and it's now 4:50pm and we are finally on the turnpike, about an hour away.
