How many people/ages in your party, Dan?

me my dw my two boys 4 and 6this is gonna be our 4th trip, and then theres my mother and father in law who are first timers and used to typical costa del boring holidays.

Hi Dan. Two years ago we booked a pool view room at the HRH, bit of a joke because you could just make out the pool over the top of the palm trees:rolleyes: Our room was right underneath the HRH skign as you look at the building from the pool (all the advertising shows this shot).

Last October I faxed ahead to the HRH and asked for top floor if possible to save getting the family of elephants we'd gotten the previous year. I have looked everywhere for our room number, but so far no luck. I'll keep looking for you, but in our view you couldn't have had a better room in the hotel. It was a HUGE corner room on the top floor (there was a few rooms on a floor above, not directly above us, think these were concierge). We had two large windows on both corners to look out of - both onto the pool and one looked right over into IOA where DD had that afternoon discovered Hulk, so she was very happy with the view of Hulk:D

I'll get up in the loft for the paperwork when I have a chance and find the room number, because I would highly recommend it.

It was a bit of a trek to get back to the room in the afternoons, but boy were the views and size of the room worth it:tongue:

For POR I would try and get Building 14 in the Bayou section. It's close to the food court/reception and also close to the main bus deepo :)

Just a thought- most tour operators work on the basis that they have an allocation of rooms with each hotel. Say Virgin get 20 rooms per night at the Port Orleans. They won't actually send the hotel the list of guests for each night until a pre-agreed period in advance, say 14 days out. For example, today they'd send them a list of all the arrivals for 29th April, tomorrow they'd send the 30th April arrivals and so on.

Therefore at this stage the hotel won't have your booking in their system. The chances are, if you call the hotel now, they won't have a clue who you are or even that you're staying there until 14 days before you arrive. So you're probably wasting your time in ringing the hotel direct at this point- you'd be better off calling Virgin and asking them to put a request in your booking. THat way, when they do send the list of arrivals to the hotel, your preferred room choice will be on the list.

Just thought I'd mention this to stop you panicking when you called the hotel and they had no record of your booking! I used to work for a major tour operator and this cropped up fairly regularly!
