Which would you pick? I know it is a matter of personal preference, but they both look great to me, and I am being indecisive! :) What do you like/dislike about either section?

We will be there May 2 - 10.

Thanks :)

We have stayed 3 times in Magnolia Bend and once in Alligator Bayou. We love Magnolia Bend! It is perfect! Last year we paid for a water view, and it was fantastic. If you go for Magnolia Bend I'd recommend the building called Magnolia Terrace as it's very close to the food court and main hotel building.

We prefer the AB section as it is quieter. That's because there are fewer rooms concentrated in one place, and with only 2 floors you can request an upper floor and have very little foot traffic outside your door. Also, if you have a car you can park closer to your room. Request a building in the 'teens in order to be close to the main building for the shops and eating places.

I say Magnolia Bend. It is so beautiful! The grounds are so nice! It is real close to everything. I never found it it be too loud where we were at. I think the rooms are nicer inside, too.

I stayed there once for six nights and since I wanted to stay at both sections, I asked for and got three nights in the Alligator Bayou and three nights in the Magnolia Bend. I asked after I got there.

I just remember the Magnolia Bend's rooms being a lot brighter.

We stayed last year in Magnolia Bend and the year before in Alligaot Bayou. We liked Alligator Bayou better. It seemed quieter and more secluded and the landscaping seemed more lush.

I also prefer Alligator Bayou for the peace and quiet it offers after a hectic day at the parks. Usually don't even see any other guests when we get the 2nd floor ! Stayed here about 8 times....

We always ask for building 24 even though it is at the back of the resort. Extra quiet and right by both a quiet pool and a bus stop.

:thumbsup2

I have only stayed in Magnolia Bend, in Acadian House, and it was very quiet. This building also had 3 floors, which I assume means more rooms, and we were never bothered by noise. The building, landscaping, and fountain outside our room were beautiful.:flower3:

I prefer the Alligator Bayou section. It is more lush with all of the trees and shrubs, and more tranquil than the Mansion section. I am very unhappy that they seem to be putting groups of less than 5 people only in the Mansion section. So much so that I will probably not make a return visit. I simply did not get the same peaceful feel in the Mansion section as I have when I have stayed in the Bayou.

Or if I am desperate enough, I could book at POR, and if they place me in the Mansion simply switch to a different resort. With as big as POR is, you would think they could at least place you in the section you prefer, even if they can't guarantee you room location.

We're staying at the POR in March- Easter week. This is our 1st trip to WDW. When should I call and request a certain building room or should I wait for check in. We're a party of 5 - are there certain rooms they ususally book for parties of 5? Thanks in advance for the help!

You will be placed somewhere in the Alligator Bayou section. Those are the rooms that have the trundle beds. You might want to request a ground floor, there are no elevators in the Bayou!;)

Magnolia Terrace in Magnolia Bend is my favorite building. Close to a bus stop, not far from the main building, next to a quiet pool...I love it!

WE just got back from POR las week. We were in the alligator bayou section building 14. Our agent got us that building because my husband is handicapped and that is the one closest to dining and the bus stop. We had a beautiful view of the river and the ducks. We have only been to POR once so I cannot give info on the mansions I know they are beautiful. Our section was very quiet.

This is my exact issue with POR too, and why I won't stay there again. I tried twice for Alligator Bayou, and twice was flat-out denied and placed in rooms in mansion Parterre Place near absolutely nothing. It was real quiet there in the back parking lot corner of Parterre Place, since I think there were hardly anyone in the other rooms, and absolutely nothing nearby. Almost too isolating and quiet. I hated it, and to get it twice.

Yet I read here about everyone and their mothers getting Alligator Bayou with less than 5 people, which makes me feel singled out and slighted. So as much as I would love to stay in AB, forget it - not worth the risk of getting the mansions again, which I seen enough of.

I have actually considered booking POR with "phantom" people on my reservation, just to get 5 in the group, so we would get Alligator Bayou. But don't worry ..... I won't try it .... I'll be good! :teeth:

I have stayed in both and liked AB better.

Hands down, Magnolia Bend. AB is kind of country, rustic, (to me at least) and Magnolia Bend just seems more romantic and kinda of "Gone with the Wind". Whatever you choose you'll have a good time. :thumbsup2

There are five of us, so our only choice is AB. If it's just you and dh, I'd think MB would be the choice, because families will we at AB, meaning possibly more noise.

We just got back from riverside . We were in the alligator bayou section. It was nice and quiet. Since this is our first trip I cannot compare other buildings . I know the mansions looked beautiful like the old south.
