POR - Aerobed and Trundle

Has anyone ever used an aerobed at POR while using the trundle bed as well?

Will this all fit?

Without it we would have 1 parent and 1 5 year old in each double bed, an infant in the pack n' play, and an 8 old on the trundle.

But I figure if we have the additional aerobed that would free up room for the infant to lay with mom or dad if need be. Which probably will happen?

So does anyone think there is room for this to work? :confused3

I'm trying to think about this. We were just there the last week in Sept. We had a corner room, so it is possible our was a tad larger?? The largest empty space was between one of the beds and the door, unfortunately, where the trundle pulls out. However, you could remove the trundle mattress and place it between the two beds. We did this since our 8yr old did not want to sleep by the door. You could keep the trundle metal frame pushed under the bed and use the space for an Aero bed. Depending on the size of the bed also.

Hope this helps!

Ok. Thanks. So it does seem like it may be feasible. We are driving down to Disney. So we could bring the aerobed if it works it works. Otherwise I could just throw it back in the van.

Hi!

Absolutely not. There is just not enough room to fit an Aerobed along with the trundle :confused3 Good Luck! :wizard:

Hmmm, it would be tight. I believe the corner rooms are the same size but just feel bigger because of the extra light. We had adjoining rooms with my parents and they had a corner.

We did the pack n play for our dd and put it between the table and the TV. We also used the trundle. There were nights though that my DH, DS 3 and DS 11 slept in the one double bed at the same time because the beds were so comfy, no one wanted to use the trundle. I know that seems insane fitting 3 in a double but they did it no problem. My DH is a big guy too. We are used to being cramped in bed though because we have 6 kids and a couple kids always end up in our bed by morning. :rotfl:

Anyhow, I just wanted to say that it would be a tight fit with the aerobed, unless you did what the other OP suggested. Then it would be tough having room to walk around though. I know that 3 of us did fit fine in the double if we needed to. DD would wake up at night to nurse sometimes and I had enough room to nurse her with my DS 5 in bed with me also.

You will love the beds. They were very comfortable!

can you just fit a full size aero bed in the room if you don't use the trundle bed and have enough room

I don't think an airbed will fit. In June we put our 6 and 7 yo in the full bed, and our 2 and 1/2 yo twins shared the trundle sleeping feet to feet. We had brought a twin airbed with us and didn't use it because already it was so crowded.

Good Luck!

we did it in Bldg 14 and we weren't in a corner rm. We left the trundle in front of the door and put the aero between the beds. We just didn't leave the rm much after the trundle was pulled out. I guess maybe we could have put the trundle at the foot of the bed and shoved over the table towards the window. Didn't someone say they had moved it to the foot of the bed yesterday?

I believe someone said that they but the trundle bed mattress between the beds and put the aero bed by the door where the trundle would normally be.

Last year we did an air mattress on the floor, but it was at French Quarter, not Riverside. We accomplished it by moving the bench into the sink area, underneath the clothes bar, and moving the table and chairs to where the bench had been. This left plenty of space for the twin mattress in the front corner of the room, on the wall where the dresser is. However, I'm not sure if you could use this same trick at Riverside, because they have a chest instead of a bench, and I don't know if you could move it.

how 'bout just putting the aerobed in the curtained sink area? that seems to have the most space, imo...

That is where we put the aerobed the one time we had it with us. It was a tight fit, but it worked. That would leave you to use the trundle where it is, by the door.

I would consider this a nightmare. Yes, it *can* fit, but it is fairly miserable, especially considering the ages of your kids. If you were never going to be at the resort (just used it to crash) I would say maybe. But with kids that young, you will be spending some time there.

I would skip over to the DVC rent/trade board here on the DIS and look into renting a 1 BR villa (has a living room, kitchen, balcony, and more). You can rent a 1 BR at OKW for $160/night (this includes all taxes, etc., based on $10 per point rental price) during value season for Sun-Thursday nights. It will cost more during peak times.

another option is what our family does (and we only have two kids, but like our space) and get two rooms... last year we had two rooms at pop and this year (thanks to free dining) we splurged and went for two rooms at POFQ! it was wonderful :flower:

You'll have to deflate the aerobed every day, so the mousekeeper can get around your room as well! I don't think you could fit the trundle/areo and a crib for the infant - and would it be safe to have an infant on an air mattress? I know we got rid of our water bed before our first was born, because it was like an air mattress.

6 in the room - even if one is an infant, seems awfully crowded to me!

No can do. All DVC Studio and one-bedroom units are limited to four Guests plus one infant UNDER three in a crib/pack & play.

The OP's options are limited, given the size of their family. Five people ages three and above, the options are: Port Orleans Riverside Alligator Bayou; most Deluxe Resorts; any two-bedroom DVC unit; two connecting rooms at ANY Disney resort.

This is a long-standing debate at DVC...contract says only 4 in 1 BR but Member Services has written instructions to allow 5 people (all over 3 years old) in a 1 BR. With 5 plus an infant MS will allow them to stay in a 1 BR. Some folks think this is great while others feel it ruins DVC. Feel free to join the debate on this topic in the DVC forum here on the DIS. :)

LOL! Thanks for the offer, but I'm in enough "debates" on other subjects in other forums already :teeth:
I'll just take your word on this and never mention it again :sunny:
