As many of you may know, I am a widow with 2 teen girls. I grew up camping but in a large TT. I am now wanting to purchase a popup for us. I have looked into Coleman and really like them. However, I have found a 1999 Damon Camplite with a slideout. I know nothing about Damon's. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Anything you can tell me would be great. I am especially interested in how it would compare to a Coleman.

TIA!

Melanie

I have no experience with pop-ups, but wanted to say that our travel trailer is a Damon Hornet and it is a very nice trailer. Our is a 1998 but everything is still in great working order, like new.

Thanks for the input, everyone. The Damon had been sold before we were able to see it. I am still leaning toward the Colemans, though. I will be buying used as my budget just won't allow a new one. I am also looking with individuals rather than dealers. I'll be able to spend it all toward the camper and taxes, etc. I've done lots of research, but like to others personal experiences, too. I can just hardly wait to get whatever camper I end up with to the Fort. Although we stay at the cabins often, it has been WAY too long since I have actually camped at FTW. June can't get here fast enough.

Oops! This is really ugadog! I forgot I was logged on as my older DD.

We just bought a used Coleman last summer & loved it. It is 17 yrs old & in excellent shape. We bought it from the orig owners who decided they were getting too old to "pop" & bought a Minnie Winnie. I is hard finding a good used one for a good price. They seem to hold their value pretty well. Keep looking & doing your research. Make sure you look it over good before you buy. Another good message board that has alot of good people & good info is www.popupexplorer.com They helped me alot! GOOD LUCK!

You really can't go wrong with a Coleman pop-up. We are in our second one now, although we are about to trade up to a Fleetwood (new name, same company) hybrid. We looked at all the hybrids and the coleman(fleetwood) quality really stands out.

All right, everybody keep your fingers crossed and send the pixie dust our way. :wizard: I am SO close to purchasing a 1998 Bayside. If all goes right, I may have our camper by the weekend. We are beyond excited!!

Closed the deal last night!!!!!!!!!! We will pick up our Bayside at the end of the week. Finally, we join the ranks of "real" campers!

I'm interested in a pop up too (not for Disney, but for other camping), and I have found quite a few on ebay -- yes, really! You might have to watch a while until a nice one comes up in your area, but you could really save a bundle.

Actually, my camper came from ebay!! As we speak my father is on the way to pick it up. I found a wonderful deal and am working with a fabulous seller. I am a very lucky girl!

I hope it all works out for you in your Bayside!

I'm a Jayco girl myself. We have a 2004 Qwest 12A.
