Popularity of Disney Collection

My husband and I are waitlisted for a night at the beach club for oct 25. We were thinking of trying to get into the yatch club using the disney collection. member services is closed today. does anyone have any sort of idea about this?

If it were me, I'd wait until at least the 30 day mark before committing points for a stay at a non-DVC resort. (I'd make a back up reservation for cash if I thought we might not have a room at all for that night).

Once you reserve a non-DVC WDW resort for points, you can't cancel it and reuse the points for a DVC stay. Actually, I'd probably wait until the 7 day mark before giving up on the night at the BCV.

But that's me - you have to do what lets you sleep at night!

You could also try for a cash discounted room at BCV. Is this night being added to an existing stay? If not then you might consider trying BWV as well.

Thanks for your input. I guess I don't know what to do now. The best possible case would be for the waitlist to come through. I tried to get a cash reservation at the beach club, but they were going to charge me 400 dollars for the night. For that much money I would just rather move resorts. The night that I can't get is in the middle of my vacation. I was thinking it wouls be easier to move to the yatch club than to OKW. Now that I know I would lose the points I don't know what I am going to do...

I would say don't panic and develop a back up plan for 31 one days out. You might also try occasionally calling and seeing what your status is. If you are only missing one day odds are it'll come through

You wouldn't lose the points - I just wanted you to know that once you actually reserve the YC on points, you're stuck with that decision (moving to the YC room for that one night in the middle).

Don't give up on the BCV waitlist until at least 30 days prior to arrival. At that time you can decide whether to make a points reservation at the YC or try for a cash room somewhere else - maybe the Swan or Dolphin has a better rate than the Disney-owned resorts? If it were me, I'd make a back up for cash somewhere, taking careful note of the cancellation rules.
