Popcorn bucket basics

I checked existing threads and can't see the answer I'm looking for.
I would like one of the Mickey swinging gondola popcorn buckets as a souvenir from our trip. We start our trip on February 6th at Disneyland, not DCA. My current plan is to log on to the Disneyland app at the hotel around 6:30 am and refresh until I can mobile order one to pick up in the afternoon when we switch over to DCA. Any problems with this strategy? We are staying off site if that matters.
I've never bought any popcorn bucket so any advice is welcome. My sister and I have a running joke with the death wheel because I love it and she hates it.

According to DisneyParksBlog, the following are the locations where you can mobile order.

• Mobile order: Hollywood Lounge Seasonal Novelty Release (Feb. 6-8)
• Mobile order: Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta Seasonal Novelty Release (Feb. 6-8)
• Mobile order: Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield

I think your best bet is to order from Boardwalk Pizza as it doesn't open until 11:30. Unfortunately, it is the location that is farthest from the front of the park.

I find it interesting that they are only allowing mobile order at the first two locations from Friday-Sunday.

I'm not sure where you are staying and if you will use a locker. Occasionally when popular items are released, lockers sell out early.

Edit to add: The Mickey Mouse talking popcorn buckets were $55 at DLR. Later, when offered at WDW, they were $45. I would expect this bucket to be around the same price point.

My family calls it the wheel of death, too, lol. My kids love it but I'll never get on it again. The popcorn bucket is so cute! I think your plan sounds good. I'd mobile order from any of those locations that have it. You might see it for sale once you're in DCA, but mobile ordering ahead of time is the best way to be sure you get one. Good luck!
