Just read several horror stories about being in disney when this takes place. Does anyone know for certain the dates and is it realy crowded then The dates in the post were Dec 4 to Dec 10 (the exact dates we planned on going)

Thanks

I think those are still the dates. We were there in December 04 at the same time as Pop Warner. They didn't have any impact on crowds at the parks that we could see. There were some small groups of them around, but nothing major. The people who had the most problems seemed to be the ones who stayed at the same resort as the Pop Warner crowd. We stayed at the CBR, where they were not, and we had no problems at all that week. I believe that they may one park closed early for their exclusive use - often MGM on Friday night. But otherwise we barely noticed they were there.

Please take the Pop Warner 'horror stories' on other threads with a grain of salt... our kids are NOT as rude, rotten and misbehaved as these boards would lead you to believe.

These kids work just as hard (most of the time HARDER, as they have to compete all season to get there THEN pay their own way) to earn their way to WDW as the OP's do to earn their vacation time and $.

We were there from Dec. 2nd to the 8th and we stayed at Pop. There were some younger girls at the pool everyday but were supervised by parents. We had fun wtih them. There were doing some cheers back and fourth between groups and even let our 3 girls join in. They loved that! They weren't old enough to be unsupervised so I don't think we had the issues that others did with the older kids We did have some high school boys but never a problem, as a matter of fact some of them were more polite than some of the adults at Pop! One boy even held the door for me! We didn't see any impact on the crowds at the parks but one night at epcot some of the hormonal boys and girls (highschool age) were down right rude and obnixous, swearing, yelling etc. But that was our only bad experience. I would go again that week.

I'm only worried about the number of people not their behavior. For us, this kind of trip dosn't happen all the time and the last time we went at this time of year it was wonderful and I don't want to think of going and waiting in long lines. The original posts i read stated the parks were being closed at night because of volume.

Does everyone stay in the same hotels because it was also mentioned that hotels were booked solid for that week in the past?

Thanks and no insults intended!!!!

I didn't think the parks were affected, just the hotels. We stayed at the All Stars Sports during those dates in 2003, and they did take over the place. That's fine, such is the nature of large groups. If that's a concern of yours, request a room a bit removed from the group and you should be fine.

Hi all. I am a representitive who is involved in Pop Warner in NJ and yes it is usually the same time every year and this year it will be held on 12/04/05 to 12/10/05 at the Wide World of Sports Complex. There are alot of kids from both football and cheerleading and they do stay at the Value Resorts. It is by package deals the league they are coming from receive from Disney, that Nationial Pop Warner has worked out. They league I am a part of sent 32 teams. So you can gather on how many people are there.

this is the web site if you need further info.

Thanks for all the positive info. I feel better now about going that week. We plan on staying at POR and won't go to MGM that Friday night!!!

By the way what does OP's stand for?

I did feel better till I read the previous post about 32 leagues conig from just one are!

The teams can vary in size - for example, the organization my daughter is in had several teams, one that had 8 girls, and one that had 32 (my daughter's) - and others with various numbers in between. It's not 32 giant "leagues"...it's 32 'teams', with their families.

OP means "original poster" btw :)

We were there the whole week of pop warner this past Dec. 5-11. We stayed at POFQ. There were a few that stayed at POFQ and several were staying at POR I think, but the majority stayed at the values. We never had a problem. HOwever, we do not use the pool and leave for the parks very early and get back after closing. We never heard a peep out of them at the resort. The food court was extra crowded one night when we stopped for dinner after leaving the park- but that was it. We saw a few groups of them at the parks- but nothing major. The most we waited for anything all week was 20 minutes- and most rides were walk-ons or 5-10 minute waits. If a group was in front of us- happened once- we went to a near by ride and then came back and avoided the long line. They did close MGM earlythe Friday of that week for a special party for them or something. It closed at maybe 6:00 and was more crowded that afternoon- especially RNR and TOT. I would definitley go back during this week again- and probably will. Just avoid the values and if they are in the same moderate- you may want to ask to be place away from them as they have been known to practice at night. But like I said, we never heard a peep from them at our resort. princess:

I was at AllStarMusic with them in '03. No problem whatsoever. Yes, there were a lot of kids around but they were pretty well behaved. The girls were practicing their cheers but not at some ungodly hours as some have experienced. I did get a room that was on the backside of the bldg tho and it was the quietest stay we have had to date.

And yes, they did have MGM on one night. But since it was closed to the rest of us, it wasn't a big deal.

Just a note: A child is a reflection if their parent(s), if the children are rude and inconsiderate, the parent(s) can only be as bad or worse.

I really think you do not have anything to worry about. I personally would not stay at a resort they are at, but only because I am a very light sleeper. I have never been during PW week, but I know many who have that all say the girls are pretty well behaved and the ones that aren't...well, you can bet their parents were nearby doing something just as shameful. :)

Please do not worry and enjoy your time in Disney.
