Hey Guys,

We are heading down there for our first Christmas trip!! Anyone know when Pop Warner is this year and what hotel they are taking over?

POP Warner will be Dec 7th to Dec 13th. The past few years they have been mainly at the Allstar Sports and Music and the POR and POFQ. Some families may stay at other resorts but the "offical resorts" are the Allstar Sports and Music for the value choice and the POR and POFQ for the moderate choice.

what is pop warner. We will be in WDW for those dates. Should I be worried???

I am involved with Pop Warner and have gone 2 times, with this Dec. being my 3rd time. The players and cheerleaders are busy at the Wide Wolrd of Sports all week. I have gone to the parks and have not incurred any issues, with lines or anything else. There have been some people saying they had problems, but I have never had any. We stay at Pop Century. As one other poster mentioned they use the All-Stars and POFQ/R. There is a topic on here already you want to look at.

We went last year during Pop Warner and it was really not a big deal at all. I stressed myself out researching and wondering if we should change the dates, but we found that it was really no big deal at all. We did notice that some of the thrill rides were a little more crowded at night, but that was not too bad.

This question gets asked a lot -- we've been there for PW for the last 4 years and if you didn't know it was being held at that time you wouldn't notice anything different at the parks. At the hotels they're at you might but not at the parks.

We were at POFQ at the beginning of Pop Warner in 2006 and didn't notice anything at the resort..

PS-we love going in December, so much to see and the Christmas decorations are beautiful.

I've been to WDW at the same time as the PW kids many times. Generally speaking, I have no issues with them. I was even at ASMusic with them!! IF there were going to be a problem, that's where it would have happened. But, not an issue. Sure, more kids in the food court and on the bus but that's about it.
As far as kids in the parks go..it's usually only noticible at night. During the day the kids are in competitions. You will run into more groups of kids at night in the parks but I have yet to have any trouble with them. I've actually had much more of an issue with the day trippers in the spring from various area schools and youth groups...those kids were severely out of control!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the PW teams being there at the same time. Try to avoid the resorts they are at and you most likely won't even notice they're there at all.

PW runs from Sun-Sat and another thing to remember is, that when thier competition/game is over alot of them do leave.

Crowds in the park shouldn't be any different (maybe a bit more in the evenings if anything).

But....there have been many threads about the noise level at the resorts (All Stars and POR, POFQ). They're teens, they're cheerleaders, they're in competition mode, they're at Disney with chaperones, not their parents. 'nuf said?

We tried to book POR for that week and couldn't understand why there were no rooms available.....then I came here to ask what was going on and learned it was Pop Warner....and just thanked the stars that it was booked up, lol, or I'd have unknowingly been in the middle of cheer central.

No offense intended to those involved in POP, not a fan of cheering when I was in high school....I definitely don't want to be living in it on vacation!

Try Caribbean Beach, they are a moderate and had openings.

Sorry, but I do remember reading about a brawl last year, where 2 or 3 whole teams got kicked out. It occurred at the resort.

If you really plan on going this weekend and want to saty in the Value or some of the moderate resorts mentioned. I suggest that you book by Oct. because they do not take ressie's until after the teams finish competeing and they block off the rooms for the PW orgs. I always book by the end of Aug, but this time I did it earlier then normal.

We normaly go in th first week in May. We wanted to do the Christmas Decor thing so we went the first week in Dec. we stayed at ASmo and they were not bad. They are kids and most of them were really polite. As for the crowds they were just like May. I think that is why it disapointed me. Everyone told me that the crowds woul be smaller at this time compared to May and nope it was the same.

We were at the ASmo at the same time that you were. I agree with you about the crowds. I had researched so much that this was the one of the BEST times to go crowd wise, but I found myself disappointed also. It is not that they were just TERRIBLE, but they certainly were not to me as described.

We have been all different times in the past 10 years (May, March, April, October, September during free dining, December) and I have found the crowds to be pretty much the same besides the heart of Spring Break trip that we took.

I am so very glad that we got the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Christmas decorations!
