Im upgrading a 10 day Nonexp (never used actually) MYW tick to a DVC AP can I do that at Pop check in desk? Id like to try to get the AP discount

I'm no expert on this -- so I'd check around... BUT...

I'm not sure how it works with AP's but I've read here before you can't get them at Resort Concierge desks, you have to be at a Guest Services location.

One trick you could do .. if you have a rental car or are driving.. stop at Downtown Disney guest relations and get your AP before check-in at the resort.

If that won't work for whatever reason, I would think that you could book the AP rate and as long as you showed them your new AP in the first day or so of your stay.. I can't see why you could not do this. I would think a chat with the on-duty manager at check-in would resolve any concern.

You most likly will have to at least have a Voucher if they ask. You cannot get this or the AP at check-in. Only place is at Guest Services at DTD or any of the parks. Now they don't always ask but you never known.

If they ask for your voucher at checkin just tell them it is packed in one of your bags, and that you will bring it by first thing in the morning. Then time permitting you could go to DTD and get your AP that evening. If you don't get the chance to get your AP the same day you check in just get it the next day and take it to the front desk when you return to your room. There should be no problems.

I really don't think you need to be duplicitous. I would be honest.. I'm picking up my AP at the park in the morning.. may I show it to you tomorrow sometime?

Every time we've purchased our APs we do it after we check in. I book the AP rates, and only one time have I even been asked for my AP upon check in.. but when I was I simply said I'll be picking it when we go to the parks later. I was asked to show it later that night or the next day when I got a chance to, which I did. So, I don't see that you'll have a problem as long as you do purchase one.

While at the Beach Club checking in the man next to us was going through the same thing. He was going to go to the park and get his AP. So the CM told him that they would place his room reservation at full price and when he gets his AP to stop by the front desk and they would adjust it to the discount rate that he booked it under. I'm not sure what he had expected, but he was in shock and didn't say anything at first. The CM was as nice as she could be. I had never heard them do this policy before, but then again, we always have an AP since I renew in the Fall and hubby renews in the Spring. I guess I could say they never asked me for an AP, but that is because I always take mine out and show it without being asked. I usually hand it to the CM when I give them my picture ID. Since hubby was a CM for a long time, we were ALWAYS asked for the CM ID and did this in the same manner.

I think this is perfectly fair. If, as long as you are getting your AP they will change it to the AP price. You are not charged anything until you checkout anyway, so what's the difference.
They only way I can see this upsetting someone is if they never intended to get an AP... and I'm glad they are finding a way to stop people getting rates not intended for them!

as long as you show your ap before check out(before last nights stay as bills are made up that night for 6 am express check out)you will get it
