Hi Everybody, planning 4 night trip with my 13yo daughter over MLK weekend in January. Priced out hotels below. We were there summer of 2017 but stayed offsite.
POP-$499
SOG-$600
POFQ $868
all of those include tax
POP and SOG include magical express so that saves probably $60-$70 in uber for round trip airport.
SOG can walk to Poly for monorail and we are planning 2 MK days so that's an advantage. Plus bigger rooms but with only 2 of us not sure the room size matters.
I have heard great things about POFQ and love the theme but do you think it's worth the extra $$ over SOG? Particularly since SOG has 60 day FP now I am just not sure.

Shades of Green doesn't have the Magical Express, so I'm assuming that was a typo and you meant POP and POFQ would save you in transport costs?

Do your POP/POFQ cost estimations account for a military discount? (Granted, it's done on a sliding scale so you can only expect "up to" a certain amount, not necessarily that full amount)

We've only stayed at SOG as it has always worked out as the best value for us. Even with parties of only 2 or 3 (depending on the year), we also really love the space (but that's mostly because my dad ends up spreading out the most!!!). And we've done the Mears (I think) shuttle for our airport transfers (but I would like to take the ME some day...).

Food-wise, will you be eating on-site or at the hotel? We found food at Shades of Green to be a really good value, but we've also been doing week-long stays.

I'm just generally a big advocate for SOG, but I think for a parent/daughter long weekend trip, I'd probably do POP. Magic bands are included (so you don't have to buy ones or use previous ones), Magical Express, and the 'on-site' magic.

Thank you! Yes that was a typo. I meant POP and POFQ would save by taking magical express. I haven't taken military discounts into effect yet but this quote is from an agency that buys large blocks of rooms and discounts them. They are already about 30% off so I think military might take a little more off but not much.

I think I might be leaning a little towards SOG, Don't want to pay quite that much for POFQ and think POP may be a little loud. I am very light sleeper!
