So we were originally going to stay in pop for our May 7th-14th stay. I got to looking at the moderate resorts though and thought maybe we should/could spring for a moderate resort instead. My first disney visit in 2003 we stayed at the CBR and recently in January 2007 I stayed at the CSR. So I'm looking at either of the Port Orleans resorts. (still trying to decide which one we should stay in if we do that, I dont know the differences yet)

But what would be/are the advantages/disadvantages of doing either POR/POFQ vs. POP? The price difference is I think it was $576 total for the resort upgrade. Is it worth it?

One big difference is that POR and POFQ have a boat to down town disney. They have a nice feel to them as well especially POR feels like like a deluxe resort. POFQ is also nice and the smaller of the two. You can use the facilities of both if you are staying at either.

I've heard that POR and POFQ use the same bus system. I'm a little confused by this, I have heard that POR gets picked up first, so does that mean that the POFQ people may have to wait longer for their busses? Like if they fill up before the bus gets to them?

Also does anyone know where the King bed rooms are in POR/POFQ? I can't seem to find that info.

Most rooms have two double beds and a limited number of rooms have one king available. Hope it helps!

POFQ has always been picked up first when they share. Now sometimes they don't share.

king beds are on every floor - Know they have been in the prefer section (water view). So probably in every section - Mansions - don't know anything about the AB section.

also many of the King rooms are the HC accessible ones, I have one booked for Wed. Usually you need to book one with water view to get King. it is a paid upgrade.

The rooms at POR and POFQ are larger than the rooms at Pop. The atmosphere is much nicer at POR and POFQ, and you don't hear as much noise as you might at Pop.

yea but some of us love Pop anyway.;)

their frozen cokes! the lake view:hippie:

their pool bar :woohoo:

Thanks! I think we have decided that if we can spring for the extra cost we will stay in one of those moderate resorts instead. I saw on Disney's website that you can pay extra for a king bed, so if we pay that extra we are promised a king bed right? I'd be ticked if I paid the extra $175 for the week for a king and not have one lol --- though now thinking about it, I wonder if a king bed for a week is $175 we could get an extra two good meals out of that...

We have stayed at all the mods and POP and while POP was worth the 49. we paid a night I would pick a mod unless I was on a tight budget. The pop rooms were very small and transportation not too impressive. We especially didn't enjoy the cattle call waiting for busses, although it kept people "In line".
It's interesting that you can only get a king if you pay for it at POR but you can get one for free at CBR......I was told it was guaranteed if you paid for it...also the ambiance for a midnight stroll is much more romantic at the mods.

I just looked and at CBR it is $157.50 to go from two double beds stardard view room to a King... So you have to pay for a King there too...

okay at some resorts you are guaranteed either a water view or king bed - not both.

and for some reason lots of folks who wanted a king bed ended up with a water view. not certainly what the problem was.

I have stayed at POP and POFQ. POFQ is my favorite, however, there is a lot I can do with $576. For our trip this last September we did POP and it's fine as long as you rent a car. It's actually a very nice resort and they have a better food court but I love the atmosphere of POFQ and the lovely grounds.

POR and POFQ are both very nice resorts. POR is very romantic with the lovely gardens and flowers. The boat to DTD is also very romantic. They have a sit-down restaurant and the quiet pools are great to just relax by. It is definitely worth it to upgrade to a moderate, IMO. I won't even price a value. Then I don't know how much more I'm spending :rotfl2:
