Pop vs any PO

 This will be our 1st WDW trip. DH really wants to stay at Pop becuz it looks more "kid friendly". DDs are 10 & 4. But if I get a good rate, I'd like to stay at PO with it being a "nicer" resort. My concern is after watching the video & even looking at some pictures, the Pop just seems more interesting. I'm happy just going anywhere really! :cloud9:

I'd stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. Much nicer resort, plus it's small, so it's a quick walk everywhere. Their pool slide is great and there is a hot tub tucked away behind the pool bar. This is our favorite moderate resort. Also, there's the boat that goes to DTD, so that comes in handy.

We stayed at Pop in November, and although I may be the minority here, we did not care for it at all. :sad2: If you're in the 90's area, you've got a bit of a walk to get to the main building. We just did not like it as much as the Movies (loved the Movies). The foodcourt can get pretty crowded and loud alot of the time and we found our selves waiting in long lines each time we tried it.

I spent 10 days at Pop Century last year and loved.

On previous trips I stayed at CBR and POFQ. I loved those also, but to me Pop was the best. Pop is very kid friendly. The theming at this resort is larger then life and it really feels like another theme park. Your kids will absolutely love it.

But no matter where you go, you can't go wrong staying on a Disney property.

PoP! is extremely kid friendly... that said, we heard kids playing in the pool until at least 10pm (we were right next to it). Our impression of PoP! was that it was fine...
We love POR... and agree that FQ is intimate with a great pool and boatride transportation to Downtown (it's fun!).
We've also stayed at PORRS and love that too... with kids, I might choose the Bayou over the Mansions there, it just seems more fun. Theres also a sitdown restaurant (Boatwrights) which has good food at fairly reasonable prices (and a welcomed change of pace from the food court that you will find at PoP!)
Wherever you are, you'll have a great time! Enjoy! :bounce:

I wouldnt always say POFQ is always nicer- we stayed there for 5 days last 4th of July and we will never go back.. the pool had mildew, along with the bathrooms. the service was poor at best. I can honestly say we will never stay there again.. there are better moderate resorts if you are leaning that way- the CSR has alot to do for kids. check it out.

We have stayed at both during the past year. I must say POP is busy.. noisey and did not feel relaxing. The when at the resort we look for a more quiet time and POP did not do this for me. My sil and I both had stayed at PO - her POFQ and Me POR and we even with young children felt PO was a better fit.

Welcome to the DIS, blueeyez!

I am another who prefers the Port Orleans French Quarter over Pop, and if you can afford it, I say go for the it. The rooms will be a bit bigger. There are whimsical statues and icons in the food court and around the pool. If your 10 year old likes pool slides, she'll love the one at the French Quarter. You will also have a free fridge in your room at the French Quarter--you can keep water, juice, and snacks cold in the fridge, which can save some money. And as others have said, the boat to Downtown Disney is fun, and a nice way to take a break from the buses.

Pop is a very nice motel. The kids would enjoy the four story icons at each building. I stayed there in October, and enjoyed my stay, but after that stay, I decided I'd prefer to be at a moderate or deluxe resort instead if I can afford it (I wound up deciding to buy into Disney Vacation Club after staying at Pop so I can afford to stay in nicer players for my yearly treks to Disney World).

Have fun planning your trip!

Is that my husband posting?? Those were his comments exactly! We also stayed in the 90's building at Pop in November and didn't like it.We barely used our refillable mugs due to the inconvenience of walking back to the food court. The lines at the foodcourt and for the bus were long. We prefer ASMo as well. We have stayed at POR-RS and LOVED IT! My DS (9) much prefered it over Pop because of the great slide at the pool.
