Pop vs. Allstars

My family, (myself, husband and 2 and 4 year old.) stayed at All Star Movies 7 days in Feb. of 2002 for our very first WDW vacation- loved it (a bit of an understatement). We are going to WDW again Feb. 2005 and will be booking 2 adjoining rooms at a value resort. I was going to book movies again, but I thought I should get some of your opinions on PoP Century first as it was closed when we were there.

What are the differences between the two resorts, advantages and disadvantages, etc?

I like the All Stars but loved Pop Century!!!

the food court is similar to the all stars - only one for the entire property.

only one bus stop so the trip might be faster. (Okay I hate the way the MK buses are going to the MK - that is so silly)

the light going in - seems to have some majority problems I brought that to WDW attention - but got told they couldn't do anything (I can't believe that) because it is another outside department (yet......I can't believe that either - considering there is no an outside department in Lake buena Vista.....)

We have stayed at ASMo a couple of times and just returned from POP last week. I really loved POP and will choose it over the All Stars from now on. The set up is similar to the ASMo so everything will feel familiar, but they have made things even better. Even though it is a value resort it feels a step above, not quite a moderate but a little nicer than the All Stars.

We loved Pop much more than the All stars. If yuo can get to the back (by the lake) of the 50's building you can see the fireworks of Epcot and MK. Very cool.

Be aware that the parking situtation at Pop Century is really bad. If you will be driving to the parks, I would still stay at All-Stars. No car? Pop is better.

We found the beds at Pop to be more comfy. Food court at all stars to be better. Not that the food court at pop was bad, it was fine..huge selection, some very good items..but overall the food is better at all stars.

Parking again..huge problem at Pop. If you aren't going to have a car then this isn't an issue.

We would stay at Pop again. The grounds are beautifully landscaped..nicer than at all stars.

Is this a good viewing or just enough to be able to see there are fireworks?

Thanks everyone. Just reserved Pop Century for a week in Feb., Yay!!! It is amazing how the thought of going to WDW again makes this 33 year old, stay at home mom of 2, feel like a 5 year old giddy school girl.

We requested the 50's building, hopefull this will be a fun one. I thought my mom in particular will like it as this was the decade of her childhood/teen years. We also will not use a car (we will use Tiffany Town car for airport trans. and then the WDW buses ) so that will eliminate the problems with the parking at Pop.

Thanks again everyone. WDW here we come (I supposed I should tell my husband sometime )!

I just returned from the PC (yesterday), and have also stayed @ ASM. I LOVED THE PC....and I LOVED ASM! It all depends what your needs are.

Parking is atrocius @ the PC, late @ night. However the Bus services is extrodinary! I did 50/50 on using the car and taking buses. The AS resorts buses are good(..but not great).

Food wise they are both equivalant...except PC has those frozen cokes (we overdosed on these)!

The gift shop @ PC is much better.

Pool wise ...they both have very good pools...GREAT LIFEGUARDS on DIS property!

My guess younger children (under 6) would like ASM better, older kids...will like PC better.

My cousin took his family to POP this last week and they enjoyed it...the kids LOVED the snack bar and the gameroom.

HATED the parking..it was AWFUL..what were they thinking? I saw it first hand....the parking situation was horrible. Cousin said he parked at the single fathest spot from his room because it was the only thing left...he will probably return to all stars next year. The themeing was abouit the same, POP felt newer and fresh, a little more up to date...but he said All Stars were more comfy for him all around.
