Pop versus Off-Site

I have to say, my family loved POP last August...
Having said that, we are going to stay in a villa next week offsite
at Reunion resort. ... And from what I've seen online it seems like a nice
place.

I doubt you will ever be satisfied staying at POP again.

I went through the housekeeping or none dilemma too. It's just me and DS so any "cleaning" is done my me and that is not a vacation. However, the appeal of a Villa is getting more for your money than you get at a resort. The parking spot is right out front no matter what time we get back. The pool and hot tub are right out side the back door. There are plenty of rooms for my DS and me to do our own thing. Too much togetherness can be a bad thing. The Villa has video game consoles, pool, foosball, etc. right there so I can be in my PJs and comfortable. Since there are only two of us and the house has 4 bedrooms, there should be plenty of towels so I don't need to do a load of laundry. I'll probably use the kitchen for breakfast since it is such an easy meal to prepare.

At the end of our vacation we are going on a Disney Cruise, so I'll be fully pampered then.

For every one that says stay offsite another will say stay onsite.
We have done ASM once and thought Basic, overpriced, way too small, Hated Disney buses (It was Xmas and packed solid), food court not our sort of thing. Absolutley no reason for us to stay at a value resort again.
We like the Courtyard By Marriott 2 mins from Downtown Disney, very comfy beds, good sized rooms, free wireless internet. $50/night incl tax, one third the price we paid for ASM.
We love Disney and Disney Cruise line but Value resorts are not for us.

DH will never let us do a value because it's just too small. DH will never let us do onsite if it's in a hotel with the kids because it's just too small. For onsite we have to stay in a 1 bedroom villa at least (this is killing me trying to get enough points to rent). So we mostley stay offsite where if we want to stay in our room for a day to relax we have enough TVs for everyone to watch . I love to breathe, eat, sleep and do other things at WDW 24/7 but I do need a break from it every once in a while and we require space to do that. So with that being said...we'd choose offsite vs. POP.

We stayed offsite in a hotel, Days Inn Lakeside (I believe it's closed now), and found it to be satisfactory. It was clean, the pool was nice, and the drive to WDW wasn't bad at all. The rate was $30 a night. On our last trip we rented a condo and loved it. I like having space to spread out, a kitchen so I can snack, washer and dryer so I can wash my clothes if I want to, and it was in a very quiet complex. We're going back this year. The only time I stayed onsite was in 1990 at Ft. Wilderness with my parents in our popup camper. So while I can't talk about the value resorts specifically, I know I can't personally justify the price right now. I can stay at a wonderful condo for at least $20 less per night than one room at Pop Century or the All Stars, even factoring in parking and renting a car.

We stayed at one of the All Star resorts for just one night last year and we hated it. As much as we love the DDP, it just isn't worth it to have to endure the All Stars. As soon as you enter your room, you might as well be staying in a Super 8.

I would personally rather stay somewhere like the Downtown Hilton for about the same price (or less). Much more relaxed atmosphere, more spacious, and every bit as close to Disney attractions. No DDP, however.
