Pop up camping in January.

Do you all think I am nuts to try camping in a pop up in January?

I need something that is economical that sleeps 5 and we LOVE to tent camp.... but I don't know much about Florida in January.

Any advice?

We do it. The weather can be tempermental. Some years it's hot, others cold...sometimes perfect. Last year it got pretty darn chilly for a few days, but the 5 of us cuddled up and used the heat in our pop-up. I can't complain. We're coming back in December!

Pop-up camping in Florida during January is no problem. Just get a long-range weather report & pack accordingly. The average high is around 70, and average low in the 50's-60's. On rare occasions, it will drop into the 20's during the night & only reach the high 30's to low 40's during the day.

Make your January plans, and just watch a good weather website about a week before your trip.

One thing is guaranteed. You will NOT have to cope with a lot of snow!!!

Also electric blankets are great. We camped in our popup in freezing weather with a portable 1500 watt heater and electric blankets.

Pop-Up camping in January has got to beat Pop-Up camping in July - Not so Hot!

January should be cool but okay if things are average. Others have suggested electric blankets; we use electric mattress pad warmers (which go underneath you but operate on the same concept as a blanket).

We also have a furnace in the popup which we use doing waking hours but the blower is a bit loud so I cut it off at night (plus it uses alot of propane).

After tent camping, you'll love being off the ground at the Fort!

No not IMHO, but getting a non partial site along with a couple of these 1500W Ceramic heaters with a couple of 25' extensions cords and a 30A adapter you can run two of the heaters if needed and that should help a lot. While it was a full sized TT we stayed at FW from 16 Dec 2007 until 25 Jan 2008 and a single 1500W heater was about all we needed in a 31' trailer.

Ditto on the heater Larry talks about. We dont need much heat though since we are doughy Northerners.
