I am looking for a pop up camper to rent. Has anyone heard of Great Outdoor Camper Rentals? I have called but no one has returned my calls. Does anyone know of any businesses that rent these?

I know our local rv dealers rent pop ups try the ones in your area.

For a little bit more than you could rent a pop up for, you could stay in a fully stocked 5th wheel.... REALLY NICE. Check out tina's website, she is a regular around here, and she rents a 5er all set up and ready to go.. www.campatthefort.com

May I ask what area of the country you live in? If you live anywhere near Georgia, Peco Camping in Tucker GA rents popups (or use to about 2 years ago).

yes, I would give her site a look. We are using her 5th wheel this August, and can't wait. You don't have to pack anything..linens, towels, cookware, everything is included. The national rentals don't include any of that. The trailer is placed on site for you...slides out and ready to go. All you have to do..is enjoy! There are several other members of the camping board who have or are using her 5th wheel.

Hello!
I just sent you a PM. Sorry it took so long to get back to you, we just got back today from vacation at the Fort (which was great!!). The schools have been closed for the last week for Spring Break. We had a difficult time getting an internet connection at our campsite. Such is life!!

I might be interested in renting a Pop-up too. Maybe sometime this summer. For me, DH, the boys & step-kids, 6 in total. (well, possibly 7, if DH's ex insists on coming) Not sure how bad it would be this summer in the tent here in Central FL. We want to eventually buy something, but have other obligations right now to get out of the way before we can.

I know that 5th wheels must be LUXURIOUS but I personally would love to some day rent a pop-up. The reason? To try it out before purchase...but I have to take the ol' tents on vacation first! Nothing like jumping the gun and wanting a pop-up before we even try out camping! :rotfl:

Hey, you're not alone! We BOUGHT a brand new tt last year, without ever having camped before!:lmao: Thank goodness we love it! With 4 kids, it's the best investment we ever made. And we can afford to go to Disney a lot more often!:goodvibes

abbdrey rents out her pop-up...send her a PM. Her name is just a couple of post above this one. And TinaH has a 5th wheel that she rents....Id rent a pop-up, and then rent a 5th wheel before deciding to purchase ANYTHING.....that way, you'll KNOW if a pop up is going to be enought space for you or if you should skip spending $$$ on a popup and save it for the TT.

we are renting Tina's 5th wheeler for 10 days in June. Can't wait to go to Ft. Wilderness. I've never been there. My sil goes all the time and loves it. We are 5 adults (me & hubby 3 grown children and grandson).
We actually have a grand gathering with SIL and her family going too. Plus it will be my Grandson's 5th b-day while there. He is so excited he keeps telling everyone he is going to Mickey's house (that's what he calls Disney). Thanks to these boards and my SIL I found out about the rental or I would have been renting two rooms.

Thanks BDR!!

I think that the TT's and 5th wheels definitely offer more luxury. The pop up camper is truly a more camping/roughing it experience. We like the pop up, but have thought about getting a TT as well. The thought of not having to walk to the comfort station is appealing. My girls always seem to have to go to the bathroom at different times, so I end up walking to the comfort station about 10 times a day!!

Good luck with your search!!!

BDR, you make a LOT of sense! Renting both first--that would definitely be the way to go. My biggest thing is that I really don't relish the thought of towing a bigger TT. The size of the pop-up--both for towing and storing--are advantages. Still...I think you're right in trying them both out! (tents first, tents first..) :rolleyes1

Before we purchased our travel trailer, we stayed in "on site" units that some campgrounds offer. Some with slide outs..some not. Gave us a good idea of what we wanted or needed when we were ready to purchase. I'd recommend it to anyone considering a tt purchase. I'm not that familiar with pop ups..but I'd think it would make sense to rent one and see how it works out. It's a good excuse for a camping trip too!

This is the reason that hubby and I bought a privy tent and a port a pottie. This is GREAT!! Only DD (5 yrs old) uses it and it saves all the walks to the CS. I have used it in the middle of the night in an emergency. :thumbsup2

I will always be a pop up camper by choice. If I ever made a change I would go to the hybrids so that I still get that tent feeling while sleeping!!

I really like the Pop up campers too!! I like the feeling of sleeping in a tent, but alot more comfortable.

The privy tent and portable pottie are a great idea. I have looked into it, but have not bought them yet. I could always request to be closer to a comfort station as well. For now, I just think of it as additional exercise (which I rarely get - by choice!!!)

Could someone post the website to camper rental, especially pop-ups my dd and son in-law are going to WDW and want to rent a pop-up since it's just the two of them and it will save them from borrowing our tt
They really want to camp and not stay in a hotel..TIA

Phyllis- Thanks alot , do you know if two families can stay in the 5th wheel ? My dd said she may want to take her MIL and FIL with them as they have never been to WDW, and this could be a good option for them, that would make it 4 adults if that happens. If not the pop-up is just perfect for two people and would work nicely.

Terri,
I know it will easily accomodate four adults..and I'm thinking it's really the same family staying in it..so I wouldn't think it would be an issue, but you can certainly ask Tina to be sure.
I've looked at the floorplan in Tina's 5th wheel, and it will definetly accomodate four adults. The one bedroom is a slide out with a queen sized bed. I think the front bedroom area looks as if there is a jacknife sofa..and perhaps bunks over that. I know she has adult sized kids..and so do we. Right now it looks as if it's just going to be Bob and I in August, but I know it will acomodate the rest of the family if anyone else decides to come. There is contact info on her site where you can ask her specifically what the other bedroom offers and if having the inlaws with them is a problem. There may also be photos. The dinette should convert if they need it too. It is nice though that there are two seperate sleeping areas without having to use the dinette if you don't want to.
