O.K.I got some information from a bus driver that the reason that the Legendary years is not complete is because of the lull in attendance after 9/11. I am just wondering if anyone knows if it will ever be complete? I think that the icons that they could have would be great, like steamboat willie for the 1920's, etc. why won't they COMPLETE IT!

well one rumor going around is that in Oct - they will start back on the building.

now there is alot to be done to complete this thing. so don't expect any opening until 2009.

I would like to see those icons as well, would be neat to see stuff from way back then

I heard it was stopped after 9/11 as well and Disney will start working on it when they feel they need the value rooms. I have also heard they will start working on them later this year. But till WDW has an offical press release, I'm not holding my breath.

I heard the 9/11 rumor as well, however I just have a hard time believing thats the only hold up. I heard the other day that Disney has forecasted 2007's attendence will break the record that 2006 set. We all know that more people than ever are visiting WDW and I just find it hard to believe that low attendence would be to blame. I do hope the rumors are true that construction will resume soon, that section just looks so horrible with grown up landscaping around empty brown buildings. :wave2:

construction stopped before 9/11 - disney got into finance trouble in the late 90's - 1998 & 1999 - construction stopped in 1999.

I also read somehwere it will be suites.

Also I saw a video on the internet from somebody who snuck over and toured the place, maybe U Tube or something, can't remember but it was interesting. The buildings are a mess now. There is probably as much work to do in reconditioning it as starting a new property.

Something at Disney looks bad?!!:scared: They must have that under lock and key! I haven't seen anything there look bad!

What? Is it already built but not finished?

Just back from POP and a room with a view of the lake & legendary years.

Differences from last year -

The "islands" in the parking lots had been cleaned out and appeared very red. In GA that would be dirt, but I have noticed them putting out the reddish mulch this trip so my guess it that is what it was. Cleaning up ?

Orange cones around the parking lot and one day I saw a bus parked in there. Maybe using it for bus training, but I never saw the bus moving.

One day two men in two vehicles parked for some time. They had hatch open and hunkered down looking at something, like plans maybe :)

My third lake view room and first I have ever seen signs of life or maintenance there.

I hope it's suites or anything at this point, fingers crossed :thumbsup2

Wow ... that video really was kind of depressing! :sad1: I don't think I would want a room a Pop with that view ... just a big glaring reminder that the "reall world" isn't all disney magic and pixie dust!! Hopefully they will finish that section soon ... I agree that the theming could be really neat.

They are also using the main building as "housekeeping staging" as in that's where they take the soiled linen carts and housekeeping carts at the end of the day, and where they deliver the fresh carts overnight. (I was up really late/early overnight one night about 3am and had a room overlooking the lake, when staying at POP last week and heard/saw all kinds of traffic over there)

I'm surprised that Disney would let that go for as long as they did. It can't be because of attendance, or money, because we all know that Disney is not lacking in that department at all they have plenty of both.

I'm ready for a new hotel.................I hope they do something soon with that eyesaw. Disney has plenty of deluxes, and values. I would love to see a new MOD resort.

I was wondering whether the buildings were being used for anything or not. It wouldn't take long for animals , insects, and mold to take over if there was no upkeep or maintenance. Otherwise it probably would be best to bulldoze the buildings and start from scratch.

we'll be at Pop in 4 weeks - find those abandoned buildings a bit fascinating, like "disney after the apocalypse" - so, there's "activity" around 3am over there, huh? - better set the alarm one night to check it out!
