We're probably going to stay at Pop in December...DH, DS7, DS4(5 by then), DMom, DDad and myself. We're getting two rooms, of course, but my Mom has some arthritis in her hip, and has good days walking, but some bad days. Is it a much farther walk to the bus stops & food court from the standard rooms? Would it be worth the slight cost difference to go with preferred? Is there one particular building we should ask for? :confused3

Thanks for your input!

I would say definitely yes. I love getting a room away from all the activity, but they can be a long walk to the bus stop/food court. The problem is that you can request a room, but you never know what you are going to end up with.

I know a lot of people like the 50s building. All the preferred rooms will be closer than the regular rooms though. Have the information about your mom and walking put right on your reservation.

DH & I paid for a preferred room @ POP 2 years ago. For us it was not "preferred" as it was in the 60's building, 3rd floor, view of nothing and about as far away from the elevator, pool, food court & buses as possible and still be considered preferred. I did speak with WDW CRO after our trip and was told that "yes" it was a preferred room even though it was on the backside of the 60's. We couldn't be moved as it was FD & the resort was full (horribly full). So if you pay for preferred I'd be sure and tell them what building you want to be in and why you want to be in it. JMHO.....:rolleyes1

I would pay for preferred, and have them note in the reservation a limited mobility guest. you probably want to be closer to the food court.

Keep in mind that preferred rooms are often much noisier than non-preferred rooms.

Thanks, everyone! :goodvibes I'll check the map of Pop's layout. I think walking distance will be more important than extra noise. Are there multiple bus stops? I didn't realize that. Very helpful.

Probably your best bet is Preferred and to request 70s. These preferred rooms - especially building 10 facing the parking lot, and walking through the lot - are as close as you can get to the buses.

I've stayed at the Pop three times. Once preferred and twice standard. I didn't really feel like it was worth the extra money. There's so much walking to the food court, to the busses, etc, that even when you are closer, you still feel far away! :flower3:
