Allright my love for musical theatre may actually hurt my chances of being cast in a show.

For the audition we need a pop song written in the last 20 years. Blahhh even the "pop" songs I sing are mostly folky or jazzy and all written a long long time ago!

So Dis'rs what are your favorite current pop songs? Preferably a girls song, though my voice teacher can transpose anything so it doesn't really matter.

well what voice classification are you...alto or soprano. Do you want a belt-y song or something else. Let me know I can deff help you out.

Mezzo Soprano
Can be belty, but doesn't have to be. I just want the song to be very magnetic and pleasing for the auditors to listen to.

For Spring Awakening I sang a folk song from Oh Brother Where Art Thou. It was kind of slow and then picked up...they seemed to love that. I just cant find that type of song that is pop.

I think Natasha Bedingfield might have some good songs you want to try. Unwritten comes to mind. I'll keep thinking.

Hmm....
One song that comes to mind is Bubbly by Colbie Caillat.

I was thinking Colbie Caillat, but there is no real range in the song. Its basically all the same notes sung over and over and over. I love her music, I just dont know if it will show off my voice enough, you know?

Maybe something by Paramore... they have some pretty songs. OOH COULD YOU DO SOMETHING FROM WICKED? That was written in the last 20 yrs. Or maybe from Rent. Maybe something from Carrie Underwood.

Hmmm I thought of Carrie Underwood, now to get technical...is she pop or country? :confused3 I said country but my mom said pop.
