Ok we are doing a split stay and 7 of those nights we will be at POP, anything I should know? Any secrets?

I don't know if this is a secret...just something I stumbled upon while walking around the resort, but make sure you stroll down along the lake so you can check out the signs by all of the buildings noting interesting milestones and events that happened during the various decades.

Also, if you like to enjoy the occasional adult beverage by the pool, the lava lamp is delicious! In the food court, the shrimp (or plain) lo mein was surprisingly tasty.

We are doing 7 nights at POP too.. our first time there! I would love to hear any tips or secrets also :)

There is a little hidden Mickey in the lights in the food court. When you're standing in the middle of the food court trying to decide which line you want, look up. It may take a few minutes to find, but its there :). The CMs do the twist in the AM and the hustle in the evening, 8AM and 6PM I think are the times, and guests are welcome to join in! Walk toward Generation Gap bridge to get a view of the newest resort's progress. Be sure to check out the shadowboxes in the lobby, it's a great chance to share part of your childhood with your children, mine got a kick out of it and still tease me about some of the things I showed them. Pop is a great place and you'll love it. We love it so much that that's the only place we want to stay anymore. We love it so much that we've decided to stay there in 2012 on our anniversary trip instead of the Poly and spend the extra $$ saved on V&A and La Nouba!

If you go out on the bridge and start talking, the turtles and fish that live in the lake came to the surface, looking for food. Enough people must feed them that they come around when they hear human voices. (BTW, they really like Mickey Popcorn from the gift shop, but fresh red grapes from the food court--not so much.)

You can see the high fireworks of Illuminations from the 4th floor lakeside terraces in Building 2, 3 and 4. You can see Wishes fireworks there too. :)

And there are a ton of spiders in the stairs at the end of each building and in the bushes surrounding the bottom of the stairs....Ickkkk. I'm sure not the 'secret' you were looking for....LOL

Do laundry at the other resort if you have to. We got back this morning and when we were there- 6 out of about 12 dryers weren't working. 2 of the washers didn't work either. We finally carried them to a different one (along with other people). At the other laundrymat the change machine didn't work. It took us 3 hours to do one load of clothes. People complained but they didn't do anything.

Speaking of washers....a note I made last year about the washers is to take a clorox wipe or something and clean the washer out before you use it. Someone last year used a washer and there must have been a pen that had burst in it from a previous users laundry, it RUINED this other persons clothing. I felt so badly for her....she had ink on everything and said she didn't even see anything in the washer before she used it. Disney covers their butts by putting up the signs that they are not responsible for damage resulting from washer/dryer use....so probably not much she could do.

Not really a *secret* as much as a tip - after 3 very quiet stays and 1 not-so-much quiet - Be sure to request a room that does NOT face a pool. ;)

We haven't yet stayed there (first trip there will be this December!:cool1:) but I've read and seen pictures that people have posted that you can see the "Welcome to WDW" sign from one of the 80's buildings on the upper floor.

Someone who has stayed here already and knows about this might be able to offer you more specific info, but I think that's pretty cool!

When you say at the other resort which one did you go to?

Be sure to check out the shadow boxes in the lobby opposite the check-in desk. They are filled with fun toys and memorabilia from all the decades represented at POP. My dh and I had a blast reminiscing (I had one of those!) and explaining to the kids what some items were (8-track tapes, anyone?).

Take a good look at the map or take a walk around the resort. We found it was easier and faster to walk through some of the parking lots from the bus stop back to the room than through the main building and out by the 50's buildings the way the CMs highlighted on the map at check in (both times I was there they highlighted that route) I can't remember where I was staying when I realized this though so I'm no help there.

When you pass the Walt Disney World sign, look to your right....you can see the Pop buildings through the trees :) We stayed at that end of Pop one year and could barely see the sign...but you can see it :)

In front where the buses come- take a picture inside one of the 0's it's a cute shot. It's a really nice resort to walk around and see all the other sections. You can see the Epcot fireworks a little from the top floor of the 50's-60's building.

The food court is really crowded in the morning for breakfast. I thought the lo mein was terrible- i don't know why everyone raves about it- it was gross actually.

If you are going mid Sept or later- bring halloween items to decorate your window- everyone decorates their window I did not know this last time. I did not think it was noisy at all. The hippy dippy pool has life vests you can borrow for kids- that was great for my 5 yr old last year.

Great info here! Thanks for the spider info, I hate spiders, so good to know. My DS will love those turtles, I will request a room away from the pool, laundry arg, I have a 2 1/2 yr old so I will have to do laundry there, so good info on it and like the clorox wipe idea too. Hiden mickeys, always great news!
Thanks everyone!

We loved POP so much - we had a room facing the lake and it was very quiet. It was in the 70's.

The food court is very good, the Mom's Night Out special looks like an old fashioned TV dinner and was great.

Be sure to spend some time just walking around. Our last morning while waiting for ME to take us away :sad1: we walked all around the resort and took pictures. It was early morning and so beautiful out, they were some of my favorite pics from the whole trip.

Tie-dye Cheesecake! Can't miss that, sooo good and only available at POP.
