Ok, here's the scoop. We stayed at POP century from Sept. 16-25. Last summer we loved the place. After this year, never again. First of all, the noise was horrible. From 6ish in the morning, through midnight or after, both kids and adults are heard hollering, talking, making tons of noise. We could hear the neighboring rooms phones ringing, toilets flushing, showers/baths running etc. We also heard kids running, and what appeared to be a ball bouncing on the floors above us. Sleep would have been nice, and I didn't get enough of it at this hotel. The food courts were horribly crowded, very hard to find tables to eat at. The lines for everything(check in/out, food court, busses etc.) were just wrong. Plus the stops from the parks back to the hotel were always the last one farthest away. We also requested a refrigerator for one night, we had it a total of 12 hours. 6 days into our stay, I have a message to come to the front desk, to settle a room charge off, when I get down to the lobby, I find that they had been charging our room for the fridge we didn't have. They fixed that charge, I paid my 10 bucks. Upon check out, I have an additional charge for the last 4 days of our trip, they were still charging me. Needless to say, I asked for a manager and they took care of it, but I will never stay there again.

::MickeyMo I totally feel your pain. We knew when our neighbors went to the bathroom, washed their face, or took a shower. The lines for everything were the worst I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. And the bus service...don't even get me started. Would you believe they lost our paid reservations for HDDR, for THAT NIGHT! Good thing I had my confirmation numbers. It was, needless to say, ridiculous. ::MinnieMo

I'm glad you saved your comfirmation numbers, we had ours just in case also!

I'm sorry that you had such a scary time at the Pop.....

We tried both the *** & Asmu and will never stay at another value resort. The noise and the crowds were unbearable...... :earseek:

Odd, we were there at the same time (17th through the 25th) and found Pop to be practically perfect. I guess it depends where your room is located. We had neighbors because the resort was sold out, but I never heard them. Of course, we did end up with the single best room in the entire resort (room 2460, 50's building B, 4th floor, corner room, view of Wishes, Illuminations, and Spaceship Earth) so maybe that helped. We didn't spend much time at the food court but when were there we had no trouble finding a table. The carpet in the table area of the food court was pretty dirty though, I think it needs to be vacuumed every hour.

The longest we waited for a bus to leave Pop was 10 minutes. True, the queues are not under cover but that didn't end up being an issue for us except one day when it was raining for about 5 minutes while we were waiting. We put up our umbrella.

The POP bus stops at AK and MGM are actually some of the closest bus stops. But yes, the MK and Epcot ones are some of the furthest. In the mornings, the bus drivers usually dropped us off at one of the closer bus stops at MK, which was nice.

My firend stayed ther the 19th thru the 22th and also said the bus to anywhere from POP was horrible. She had stayed at ASMo last year and thought staying at POP with it's own bus stop would be great. She said she would go back to ASMo and stay away from POP next time.

Pop Century lost your paid reservation for HDDR? You mean you just paid for it that day and they lost it? Or you paid for it after you checked in and they lost it? Or you paid for it in advance and Pop couldn't find it in the computer?

You could really see all three of them from your room? Maybe we should not shoot down pop so quick next time, should I give it another chance and request a different building? Who knows, ours could have been so loud because we were kind of by the main drag. We were in the 70's building floor two, I think it was section B room 0202.

Yes. We could sit on the bed nearest the window, open the curtains and watch the fireworks. This is a photo I took of the view early one morning.

OK you convinced me! :teeth: We need to try it again and try and get a room close to where yours was! Maybe we had bad noise because we were on the 2nd floor of the 70's building, kind of on the main drag if you get my meaning. Thanks for the beautiful picture, I never knew you could see that from POP!

I do have to say that the first night of our stay we arrived very late, nearly midnight, and were put in the 80's section with a parking lot view. I was very unhappy with that location as we had stayed at POP twice before in the 50's and 60's sections and wanted to be over that way. So, first thing in the morning I sent my husband down to the front desk and he came back with this room and this view. Even the CM who re-assigned our room said it was the best one at the resort. We got very very lucky I think...

I'm sorry you had such a bad time at the resort. We went in 2004 and thought it was great. But we were also in the 50's building. Maybe the 50's building has better sound proofing.

After reading about the 50's building, I think we will give it one more shot before completely banning it from our family. We'll also try and get a top floor room. I did notice a lot of staff earning their ears at the front desk, maybe that is why we had such a hard time getting our fridge removed from our bill. Who knows! We still had a wonderful trip! I wish I knew how to post pics online, I had some great ones for the dining board! Thanks again!

We were at POP 9/16-23 and we enjoyed it. I actually requested the room that foxtrotter got. We ended up in the 80's building. We always request top floor, corner room as much as possible anywhere we travel because I hate to have people walking on my head.
We are early people so we may have driven our neighbors nuts. LOL

The food court was always packed. The busses ran alot more frequently than when we stayed at Dixie Landings. It is true that the bus stop is always the last one in the row.

We would probably stay at POP again. For our family the moderate properties would have been additional 400.00 for the week and I couldnt justify that expense. Aa long as there is a pool and the hotel is clean I am happy.
There was hardly anyone in this pool as example of this picture.

I agree with the OP on every single point made. We were planned to stay there 9/23-9/30 but after 2 nights with not enough sleep due to the pool noise we switched to WL for the last 5 nights. We loved ASmo when we stayed there a few years ago, so it is not a value resort thing- but we will not return to Pop.

Annie1995- It's good to hear you are willing to give it another try. We also went at a not so busy time, which I think made it better too. This time we are going to go to Wilderness Lodge since we have heard so many great things about it.

To post pictures I host my pictures on photobucket.com. I just upload them and cut and paste the url to my reply. Hope this works for you!

How do I upload specific pictures? All of my pics are downloaded into my computer in to a Kodak easy share file. When I click on the file to upload, it wants to do the entire file, which has non disney pics in it too. Any ideas? I am totally stuck on this one. :confused3

We stayed at POP. I never thought I would like it. My parents had an adjoining room. We were all extremely pleased with our room We were on the first floor of the 50's building. We never heard anything from above, one night we heard our neighbor yelling but it was quick. I requested a room away from the pool after hearing the complaints of the noise. We were fairly happy. We always found plenty of seating in the food court. No complaints about the buses. I did fall one morning after walking on the wet sidewalks (from cleaning not rain) and then stepping into the building. I was not happy that there were no signs saying beware of slippery floors. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Pop last May and kind of enjoyed it. We did not have any noise problems. One thing that I thought was ridiculous was the food court issue. The food court was so overcrowded that we actually did the unthinkable a couple of nights -we went off property for supper. I think if Pop can resolve its poor food service issue it will be as good as the All Stars

We were there from Sept 18-24 and experienced absolutely none of what the OP and others experienced. We were in 80s building, room 9425 and it was quiet at all times...could not hear the neighbour or toilets flushing. The most we waited for a bus was 5 minutes tops....even the night we left Epcot (Friday) and the line was huge, they had 4 buses there within the time other resorts had 1.

We cannot wait to book Pop Century again!!
