We just stayed at Pop Century from January 28 to February 7. It is very convenient to MGM, Epcot and Downtown Disney. The drives to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (by bus or car) aren't bad at all. It is a value resort, so the rooms are smaller but our room was spotlessly clean. The pool and grounds were very nice and well maintained. The CM's were wonderful. The foodcourt is pretty decent but can get very crowded. If you are going in March over spring break time I would plan on there being a lot of people there. The buses can get very crowded but they seem to come quite frequently. On weekend evenings the wait to get back to the resort from Magic Kingdom can be long so you may want to hang out on Main Street for awhile to let some of the other guests get picked up so you aren't just standing there for a long time. If you don't like fireworks, leaving before they have them would really make sense. We were very happy with our stay and would stay there again and recommend it to others. You will have a great time!

We stayed there in January and liked it very much. Have a great trip!! :wizard:

My DD and I went last year (Jan 24-31 2004) and loved it so much we're booked again for this March!!!!! You'll have a great time!

I have a few questions as well. We will be arriving at the end of June and this will be our 1st stay at a value resort. We usually stay at the CBR, but with our AAA rate we got the room for $84 a nite. My 1st questions is where do you recommend to stay. I know there are different themes but, I have a DS who is 9 and he loves the pool. 2nd he loves the fireworks and I know that at some of the resorts you can get a good/great view of them. 3rd. I will be driving and bringing a cooler ,but do the rooms come with a refrigerator or do you have to request one. Thanks in advance for your imput and help...

We stayed at POP Feb 1-6th amd then switched to Coronado for the remainer of our stay. We had stayed at POP in September 2004 and liked it so that is why we rebooked there. When we first got to Disney the parks and the resort were not busy at all but by the time we switched resorts the parks and the resort were full. The lines in the food court on Friday Feb. 4th were unreal. On Monday Feb. 7 we watched "Wishes" and MK was packed. Once we managed to get through to our bus stop, we looked over at POP and the queing line was full and the line then proceeded to come out of the queing line and almost to the sign that tells you where your resort bus will pick you up. From seeing that it is unlikely that we will be staying there again, especially after the way we were spoiled at Coronado.

Exp.626Stitch: The same nightmare leaving MK happened to us on Friday, February 4! The line for the bus was unreal. This was AFTER we hung out on Main Street waiting for that very thing to not happen! Then off to the food court for another long wait for dinner! I think the reason the buses and food courts have been so busy is the shorter park hours. Since Wishes is at closing, everyone is leaving at the same time. Also with the shorter hours I know we didn't want to waste park time eating dinner so we always did that back at Pop's food court. Looking back on it we should have grabbed dinner and eaten while we waited for Wishes so we at least didn't have to do the food court along with about a million other people!

You have to request a frigerator either when you make reservation or when you check in at the vaules you pay $10 a day fee.

Just got back from the Pop last night. We stayed there from Feb 9-13th. Definitely stay in the 60's building, it's worth the extra $10 per night otherwise you will be walking a great deal. The rooms at the Pop are small, there is only 1 sink in the room (I think Moderate's have 2), they are clean, decent rooms. The pool area outside of the 60's buildings is very nice, heated & big. There is a great kiddie pool there also for the little tykes. Refrigerators are $10 per night to rent unless it is for medical use then it is free. You have to bring your luggage to your room by yourself, you can use a cart near the lobby or the hotel will bring it to your room within an hour. The food court was pretty good, you can purchase Pop mugs for $11.99 and get free refills for your lenght of stay....not a bad deal if you plan on hanging out at the resort. It is good for hot/cold beverages. The prices in the food court seemed to be okay. I would stay there again, it's Disney and you really only need a place to sleep & shower!! The resort is kinda far from the Magic Kingdom if you plan on spending most of your time there, you might want to try a different resort. Hope this helps! :sunny:

We stayed last March and loved it. Great food court, pool, bus service. The rooms were very nice and clean too. :cool1:

DD and I went last Feb 2 - 7 2004. What a great week... We are hoping to go back same weekend in 06. Anyway.. we had the same post MK closing issue with buses. We just hoped on the one to AllStars then PI then Pop.. We were back and having a drink by the pool in no time. Since obviously its still an issue I think in 06 that will be the 1 day we take the car to the park. The line for the boat and monorail werent as bad.

Otherwise, we loved Pop. Its prob where we'll stay in 06 if we cant swing POFQ.

We too were there for the 4th rush.

I do have to say that they were double bus loading when we were there. The line was long, but when I looked around as we were leaving (and we were one of the last to leave - we left three people waiting in line for the next bus) people where still waiting at several other stops - they didn't have as many busses arriving to take them back.

The next day at MGM we tried to take another resort and then go the PI. Big mistake. I think we ended up on the milk run back to PI. We ended up going over to the Grand Floridian after leaving Wilderness Lodge then headed to PI.

So even if the lines are long, they have so many busses that you actually end up getting back to the resort quicker.

My family and I love Pop, but I grew up during the 70's & 80's so the whole theming appeals to me. For some reason, my DD7 loves the 60's (I was too young in the 60's to have been a flower child, but my DD just loves it). I think the resort is fun and happy and I just feel good when I stay there. The rooms are small but clean. The food court is the best I've experienced on WDW property and it has more offerings and condiments than most others, plus they have Icees for the refillable mugs, which I haven't seen in the other food courts. The buses are not shared and run frequently. If you go with the right attitude and understand that value resorts will not offer the amenities you'd expect at the moderates and deluxes, then Pop is the way to go.
