POP - Preferred - won't make the switch?

Hello,

Wondering if anyone agrees that this is a good choice. My family (2 adults, 2 children ages 10 & 7) are booked into a preferred room at POP for 11/6 - 11/13. Have a package with AAA discount, dining & 6 day park passes.

I've been following the code threads, have a Disney Visa and worked with my AAA TA to try to get code discounts applied to my ressie. Tried both Disney Visa code and then the General code once it came out. I can't get the code applied to my ressie!

Now, I've lurked through a ton of posting of people who have been persistant and have gotten the codes applied. I'm going to keep trying but it's harder since I'm only able to work thru the AAA TA.

So, my only option to get a code discount was to give up my POP preferred room and go to a standard.

I've also read a ton (and a half) posts about the debate between preferred and standard rooms at POP. I didn't switch (even though it would have saved me about $250.00) for the following reasons:

1. We are arriving during Jersey Week, right before Soap Weekend. POP seems to be full. I seems that the posters who felt that the standard rooms are just as good as the preferred were able to get rooms right next to the preferred sections. And I don't think I'd be able to do this since....

2. On our arrival day, we will not be able to check in before 7pm. I worried that we would be so late to check in that we'd end up in the back end of the 90's.

3. We've never been to Disney and I wanted room to not be too far from everything.

However, now I'm second guessing myself since of course I'd love to save some money. Also, I worry that we'll end up next to the pool (I am requesting a quiet location - but no guarantees).

So, has anyone else been in this situation?? I'd love a bit of advice. Or maybe someone can just tell me that I won't in fact go insane from over-planning this trip....

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Pop several times in our 30+ visits to DW in both Standard and Preferred rooms and none of the rooms are really that far away from anything. My stays also included checking in at midnight during Thanksgiving week and having connecting rooms and they were always able to give us what we had requested when making our reservation (ex: close to food court, connecting rooms, quiet room, etc) Just returned last week from a week at the Pop in a preferred room and honestly it was not really any more convenient than a non-preferred room - my next visit to the Pop I will not pay the extra money for a preferred room. Have a great trip!!:)

No room at Pop Century is more than 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall. This actually means that rooms in the 80s and 90s can be closer to the buses and Everything Pop than rooms in the 50s.

;) first tell your aaa agent to jump in a lake then contact dreams unlimited there the best ta i've ever used that said if you do the math you can get a standard room and request a fridge for the price of a preferred room without a fridge the pops really not that big and alot of folk complain the preferd rooms are to noisey (high traffic areas)
