Pop Preferred Room

Is it really necessary to book a preferred room at Pop? We have never stayed there and are thinking we may in April. Should we just book a standard room and see what we get? Is it really as far a walk from the room to the main area as it looks on the map from the standard room areas.

the pop pref rooms are close to the pools and food court.

like the standard rooms better - you might get a view of the lake. like tramp building 3 - backside facing the lake - the front view is facing a pool and is preferred - the backside is standard.

What is the walk like from a room like that?

I think we've stayed in every section at POP, lol. The rooms facing the lake are the quietest. There is not a long walk from any of the rooms IMO.

I always book the standard pool view and add a request for building 1 or 3. This category is less than preferred at $5 more per night than standard and I really think it is a close walk to the main building from those rooms.

The pool noise has never really bothered me.

around 3 to 5 minutes to the food court. add another minute or 2 to the buses (depends upon where the bus is). there is a pool right there so a 1 minute for a pool - the main pool 2 minutes

We would only stay at Pop with a preferred room because we like being close to the main building for drink refills and the buses, but of course everyone has their preferences.

There is not a long walk from any of the rooms IMO.

I think the walk from 80's & 90's is painfully long! id drive if i could! 60's facing the lake is thd best spot. Close and quiet. My fave section!

We always go (or try) for a preffered room in the 70's builiding, inside view, close to room 6111 (close to Goofy's water playground), we feel it is more quiet than the pool view and we are very close from the buses, food court and the pool.

1994 and 1995 Off site
1998 and 1999 Off site
2000 to 2003 All star Sports
2004 to 2011 Pop Century

September 2012 DH and I for our 1st alone trip
Can’t wait to check inn at the POP!!!

Ive stayed in 70's once for 3 nights facing the main pool, Also stayed in 60's facing the lake, and my fav. of all was the 50's right to the right of the airport luggage checkout area / main bldg... This section by far was the best....So close to the parking lot ( If you have a car ) , main pool, smaller pool, main bldg, bus area....& I believe all 3 of those are the preferred section...Well worth it imho...

yes, i have this same question. i'd love to stay in the 90s!

We've never booked a preferred room, and traveled with kids from 2 to 17 and while some of the walks are a bit further.....there are benefits to each building Some are closer to transportation, some are closer to the food court, pools, the laundry...etc.

You can check the POP thread and it has a map of the preferred rooms and I think I saw an estimate of how long it takes to walk from each building...etc on there as well.
