Pop Preferred room - Should I make any requests?

I booked a preferred room at Pop for Labor day week (they were out of regular rooms)

It's just DH and I. Are there any rooms I want to steer clear of?

I was thinking to request a king bed but I know there are not many of those. Has anyone stayed in a king preferred room, and was it in a good location?

I'd like the idea of being close to everything but I don't want it to be so loud we can't rest either. I'm thinking we wouldn't want to be on the ground right next to the pool.

Thanks,
Abie

Yes, you should make a request.
I have stayed at Pop preffered twice. The first time I was in the 60's building, top floor facing the Hippy Dippy pool. Great location but I thought there was alot of noise from the pool. People swim well past midnight every night. The next year I requested top floor, not facing the pool and was put in the 70's section right next to the food court and Goofy foutain. This was a nice, quit location.

We were upgraded last year to a preferred room in the 50's section. We had requested a king room which we did receive but it was a handicap room so it had only a shower. I had a horrible time with that shower as I always had water every where. My dh had no problems so not sure what I was doing wrong.

King bed rooms are easy to get at Disney if you make the request.

We loved the 1950s section because it was more quiet than the other areas and had its own pool. Building A there is the best because it is so close!

We stayed in one of those too--we lucked up and stayed in Nov when the resort was not crowded at all--we were the only ones on our whole floor! We tried to request a king room, but they are virtually impossible to get. Hubby is 6'5" so it makes it much easier to sleep. As it is, when we do stay at a value (which is generally only w/ last minute trips) we make do with 2 full size beds and just sleep in seperate beds, putting my daughter in the room next to us w/ my mom. (That is why we always make sure to get connecting rooms.:thumbsup2 ) Full is just too small for him, no getting around it.:confused3

To the OP, we did find in the king room...which WAS a handicap room, you have more floor space, due to allowing for a wheelchair, so that is a plus. And a fridge, at least there was in ours. But there IS only just a shower.

we stayed at POP in september, in a king bed room, preferred location. our room was located on the ground floor in the 70s section, with the POP jets about 40 feet or so from our room. it was a short walk to the food court and main pool. we didn't hear much noise from outside except in the mornings as kids were running past excited to be going to the parks.. but that's expected when you're at Disney!! ;)

There are only twenty-four rooms per building, maximum, with king beds - out of 288 rooms each. And the majority of those are handicapped-accessible.
