Pop preferred booked, how & when to request building and beds?

I have a Pop preferred room booked for the 1st week of March. My reservation packet said we can request a king size bed (based on availability) rather than two doubles...which we would like to do.
I'd actually prefer the 80's building but I've read the 60's is closer to the pool and bus stops?
When and where do we make that request? At check in or prior?
Anyone know if the king size beds are in certain buildings?

Any help greatly appreciated, this is our first stay at Pop.

I actually made a request at the time of my reservation. I have also read somewhere on the boards you can fax your request 3 days ahead of arrival. I know this does not guarrantee anything but Disney does do their best with your request. Good Luck.

We are booked for the first of April. I found a great thread loaded with information only about Pop Century. Go to

"The GROOVIEST New Pop Century FAQ Thread"

Lots and lots of info and ideas there!

Anyone know anything about the king size bed rooms?

We had a king room once. It was a handicap accessable room, so the bed was lower to the ground and there was no tub.

I would call now and make sure your requests are noted on the reservation. You *may* want to fax your request a few days prior to arrival--although there is some conflict among members as to if it really does any good or if they are looked at. Then politely ask again when you check in.

As far as location, the 80's is my favorite building. Still really close to the food court and bus stops, but far away from the main pool that you don't get all the noise. No location there is really that far away, so I would suggest asking for the king bed as your first priority.

They are no longer doing that. You need to call and have it noted on your reservation at least 4-5 days prior to your stay.

I think most of the time if your party includes only 2 adults, then they try to put you in a king room, that is what I have experienced.

Who exactly is the proverbial "they" we hear talk of so much? :confused3 We fax our requests everytime and are always assured it was recieved and noted, in addition to requesting when we make the ressie, and when we check in. Maybe it's going a bit overboard, but we've gotten our request every time.:thumbsup2 If they trash them, sobeit. I've never been blacklisted from a resort or told I had to sleep in the dumpster. :goodvibes It's not going to hurt to try.

I don't remember where I read it, could have been on the Dis, could have been one of the guide books, but I know I read that Disney resorts no longer accepted faxed requests.

It doesn't matter to me either way, all of my requests are always met because of the nature of the request, so if she/he wants to fax the request more power to her/him.

I have done the same thing as you and never had a problem. I'll keep doing what works for me.:thumbsup2
