DH and I are going to WDW in November we have Pop already booked but was thinking of upgrading Port Orleans Riverside.

What would you do? Would you save the money and stay at Pop or spend the extra money and stay at Port Orleans Riverside?

Your suggestions Please!!:flower:

I have stayed at the Music resort and POR. I much more prefer the POR. My reasons...

1. If you use the Disney transportation system, you do share a bus with POFQ, but if you were to go to Downtown Disney, you can take a boat! (Trust me, it is worth it!!)

2. All of the resorts are spread out but everytime I have stayed at the POR/ Dixie Landings, we lucked out and our room was not at all far from the main building or pools.

3. There are bikes you can rent to rent as well has take a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort.

4. I fou have kids they have a fishing hole too! (or if you want to fish!)

5. Lastly there is the food and store. The POR has a general store, a food court, and I believe another resturant. There is also a little "bar type" area, kids can go too, that has a guy playing the piano. It is a nice change of pace.

I am not a fan of the value resorts. There always seems to be come "group" there that over take the place. Like I read from one poster they had a cheerleaders staying there.

Read the thread "What resort would you not return to and why!"
Hope this helps.
Have fun!
Oh, one more tip!
If you do stay at POR and decide to use the buses, there are 4 bus depots. According to the check in counter we were told to use the west depot, but bases on our room location the south depot, or main entrance was closer so we used that one and were the first ones on!

Definately...Port Orleans Riverside (or any moderate)

Port Orleans Riverside is beautiful. I would definitely go with it....it is my favorite of the moderates.

POR!!!!! I have never been to any of the values, but I can say from staying at POR 3 years in a row, we never had a bad experience. I'm forcing myself to try other mods just so I can get them under my belt, but Riverside will always have my heart. :)

Personally, I happen to love the POR and if you can afford it, I would stay there in a heartbeat. LOL ::MickeyMo

I'll be the loner that votes for Pop Century! We honeymooned at POR back In January and had a great time. We enjoyed the boat ride and liked the quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Then, we went back in May and stayed at Pop Century, and I have to say I liked to so much better! Our room was a lot closer to the main building than it was at POR (and we didn't get a preferred room) and it just felt so much more DISNEY! We loved the bright colors and outlandish theming. There were definitely more kids there than at Pop, but a lot of that was probably the fact that it was May and not January. The pools and food court were also better at Pop than at POR imo. It's all in what you're looking for: quiet, relaxing hotel... definitely POR. Fun, disney hotel... POP!

Good luck!!

I have stayed at a an All-Stars and also at POR. I loved both. My Dh and I just had this conversation regarding our upcoming vacation and decided to stay in the value this time because we could stay longer 10 days vs the 7 at POR. Of course, we may get down there and change our minds but we think the longer stay is a great thing versus the scenery. I know ya'll will have a great time no matter what.

If you can swing it, I'd go w/POR. It is somewhat spread out but it is very lush and tropical which we love. Loved the little ducks and squirrels everywhere. We were there 5 nts/6 days and never once rented bikes, the carriage or any of the other stuff available but still had a great time. I thought the food was very good too. Maybe I should go back next year so I can compare more resorts!!! .:bounce:
