I am looking at either staying at POP Century or Hilton by DTD for my next trip. I have stayed onsite at AKL and GF before, but never anywhere else. My only concern is NOISE! I need quiet when I sleep. I'm leaning towards POP since it has free parking and WIFI as well. But I would think POP would be louder. Has anybody stayed at both and can offer advice? Thank you!

I can't speak of the DTD hotel, but we have stayed at POP numerous times. It's plenty quiet in my opinoin. I'm not sure what time of the year you are headed there. I have been there in Sept and Dec, both times were equally quiet. I absolutely LOVE POP, it's been our favorite resort so far. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Stay at PopC. Request a non-connecting room, high floor, away from pools or courtyards and you should be fine as far as noise around the resort is concerned.

we stayed at the Hilton on our getaway day for one night- not impressed at all; rooms were small, old, rust in the shower....not very Disney-like...

I stayed at Pop and thought it was really quiet. :) I don't think the beds are as comfy as the Hilton but I had a pleasant stay at Pop. I was in the 90's section way away from any traffic - I hardly noticed anyone walking by my room at all. But I do think it would depend on where you were located at Pop as to how quiet it will be - so make sure you request a quiet area - they will know where to put you. It is a large resort so for sure you could get a quiet spot! You can even get a lake view - well no balcony but facing the lake.

I stayed at the Hilton DTD in 2005 and didn't love it/didn't hate it. However, I'm sure a lot has changed since then. I heard they did a lot of upgrading. I remember liking that they had a bus system, but found it REALLY annoying. I remember the drivers being crabby and mean. However, like I said, I'm sure a lot has changed since 2005.

I've stayed offsite many times {at the Marriott} and have had WONDERFUL experiences. It was very luxurious and fantastic to have that "being 2 miles from Disney yet not have the kids everywhere" experience as well. My biggest issue when staying offsite is that dining isn't included. I find the added dining really convenient, as well as the free airport transportation Disney offers. I also think that if you stayed at the GF/AKL it's more on par with Hilton standards and that the value would be different.

With that said, we have stayed on property numerous times {in mods, deluxes, and villa properties}, but have not tried the values for the same reason you have said - noise. We have heard horror stories from friends over kids running everywhere and we have also heard decent stories as well {I think it all depends on when you go}. At the same time I remember having a noise issue at the Wilderness Lodge {which is considered a deluxe} and having complete quietness at Caribbean Beach {mod}. I think when you go to Disney in general you always have to expect kids everywhere.

I would be curious to try a value, but I know my husband never would as his fear of kids screaming all over the place and noise are just too prominent. I do think this can happen at ANY hotel, however, he feels you're just asking for it more at the values. I, however, wouldn't be opposed to giving it a shot and know that if I hate it I could just pay the difference and upgrade to elsewhere on property.

I think you have to ask yourself what your plans are during the trip {if you find the dining plan to be more of a value vs paying for each meal out of pocket I would pick to stay on property, if you weren't planning on using dining I would stay at the Hilton, bedding would be a lot nicer at the Hilton, transportation would be easier at the value unless you have your own car}.

If you get lakeview and an upper floor at POP it should be quiet. The 70s lakeview is exceptionally quiet. At least at a Disney hotel they would be willing to try to get you another room if yours is in a noisy area. I find that other hotels don't have such good customer service.

We stayed at POP for Thanksgiving week 2009, one of the busiest times and we did not have an issue with noise at all. We loved POP! :goodvibes
