Which would you chose... POP or Caribbean Beach Resort? 2 adults 1 8year old DD. Not much time in the room, but we do have a resort/pool/chill day planned. Have stayed at ASMovies before and loved it, but want to upgrade a bit, and be at a resort that is no excluded from any discounts.

Thanks!

Have not been to CBR. We are staying there this October. I have been told that the pool is one of the best on property. It does look very nice.

When we stayed at CBR (after pool refurb) the main pool was crammed, every day, all day. It's a very spread out resort, and it may be quite a hike to get to the food court.

Pop Century has no slide, but does have sprayers in the Hippy Dippy pool. They have games/events going on all day, so that would be fun for a resort day? I don't know, we've never done a whole day at a resort!

I have stayed at CBR and AsMo which is pretty comparable to Pop as far as I know.

We enjoyed CBR. Yes, it is spread out, but that didn't bother us too much.

The pool was very nice and we enjoyed the resort a lot.

I was super impressed with CBR last time I stayed there, the main pool is very nice, and there is a quiet pool for each island group.
Also, the rooms were recently refurbished, and are very nice. Love the sliding doors to the bathroom/vanity.

We've stayed at POP twice, and visited CBR once. We would choose POP for sure. CBR is immensely spread out. When visiting the pool we heard a family talking about how they drove to the pool. I totally get it, many of the rooms are REALLY far from the main building and pool. The pool is awesome, but it was fairly busy, and that was late Sept during a slow time. CBR just didn't do much for us.

The nice thing about moderates is the queen beds instead of doubles. POP has really cool, fun, vibrant theming. The kids love it. We've been to Port Orleans Riverside twice (which I would easily recommend over CBR). The kids (and Mom and Dad ;) ) love POR, and the kids still talk about how much they love POP. Up until AoA opened, POP was hands down the best value resort on property in our opinion.

CBR ranks last in Moderate resorts for us. Here's our ranking

  1. POR
  2. POFQ
  3. CSR
  4. CBR

I LOVE POP!! It's Loud, fun, bright large icons, really screams Disney in a way I enjoy! I can't comment on CBR in a few weeks, I leave in 5 days for out 1st stay there.

I have stayed at both. I did not care for POP at all. Just not my style. CBR on the other hand was amazing!!! We stayed in the Jamaica building just over the bridge so it was not a long walk at all to the main pool. My boys LOVED the pool!! It was a pirate theme pool and really does seem to be the best pool out of all Disney Hotels. For our family it would be CBR hands down!!!

I would go CBR -- but only if I had my own car. That is the biggest, most spread out resort on property. If you were to, say, pick a Pirate-themed room, you'd have a solid 10 minute walk to the pool (which I hate doing in flip flops). Same distance to food court / gift shops.

Personally, I didn't care for CBR. And if you're planning for 2015 you might have read that the bridge connecting one side of the resort to the Main Bldg and Main Pool is closed. Whereas, the areas adjacent to the Main Bldg are preferred (higher) priced. The Pirate Rooms, also high priced and still double beds, are way-far from the Main Bldg.

I would definitely choose a Moderate over a Value. Our favorites are POR and POFQ. Love the boat to DTD, and the overall lush landscaping and deep-South style. CSR is also very, very nice. But they're starting room renovations. Already, Casitas section quiet pool, salon and fitness center are closed. Cabanas section is close to everything, but I think everybody is getting the same idea to book that section. Ranchos section, farthest away, is many people's favorite but I wouldn't want to recommend that until you get an overall feel for CSR resort.

As you can see DH & I love ASMo but it's just the 2 of us and we only use the room to sleep. We have stayed at CBR and really liked it before the All Stars were there and before the pool was redone. If you decide to stay at CBR I would spend the extra money and get a preferred room. The resort is really big and as others have said you could have a long walk to the food court and pool. However since the resort is so big each section has their own quiet pool. Anytime you have an internal bus loop you can be sure it takes awhile to get anywhere. The bus travels the entire resort before going to the park which can take time. You'll be at Disney and will have a great time no matter which resort you decide on.

Thank you everyone, so far!
I am planning a trip 9-17 Jan 2016. We would pay the extra for the preferred room at CBR. I am looking to keep the trip under $4000, moving to any other Mod resort pushes the price over that. We don't mind the full beds in the values, usually the DD sleeps with one of us, so there are not 2 adults in the bed at the same time :)
Keep the opinions coming! :earboy2:
