pop or all star

I prefer Pop. Of the 3 All Stars, we liked Sports the best. If you have to share a bus, Sports is the first pickup/drop off

I love the All-Stars,but POP has Hourglass Lake and fireworks views going for it which is tough to beat.:)

Pop would be my suggestion. None of the walking commutes to the busses are as bad as quite a few of those at the All Stars.

Pop is the only resort that every member of my family (and that includes me, my husband, our daughter, both my mom and dad, and my sister) all have no desire to ever stay at again. It's usually a little more expensive than the All Stars and I don't think the theming, especially inside the rooms, is anything to write home about. Both the All Stars and Pop have those huge larger-than-life decorations outside that really let you know what the theme is there, so the outside is a wash. When we stayed at All Star Sports, we thought that the quiet pool in the baseball area was absolutely adorable and loved the surf theme for the main pool. All Star Movies is my favorite of the All Stars with Toy Story being my favorite section. I love how you actually walk through Andy's door to get to the section. Also really love The Mighty Ducks and 101 Dalmatians sections. All Star Music is also adorable with the 3 Caballeros pool. So, for us, Pop is a never again but if we were on a budget, we would have no problem staying at any of the All Stars. Do know that I am very much in the minority here as Pop seems to be a favorite among the value resorts.

I prefer POP and almost always choose that if all things (i.e, prices) are fairly equal. But for my Dec dates, POP cost close to $20/day more than an All Star and at 4 nights, that's savings better spent on cocktails, snacks and other treats. It's not that big a diff to me.

Of the 3 all stars, most people seem to prefer sports because of the 1st pickup/drop off thing. But I actually prefer Music - because at the end of the night when buses are packed, you have 3 options to choose from - Music is easily walkable from either movies or Sports if one line is shorter than the other.

I prefer the All Stars. Pop seemed much busier and chaotic than the All Stars when I was there. And Pop does have almost 1,000 more rooms than each of the All Stars. So it would have more people.

AllStar is actually three different resorts - Sports, Music and Movies.
They have different themes, different layouts, their own food courts .... but you are allowed to walk to the other to use.

POP is my favorite for layout, landscape, quiet, food court, transportation, pools and access to the AoA food court and the lake. We never feel like it is busy except if you are there during BTG season, but that is all values.

Sports is my favorite of AllStars, newer food court, tight footprint, first on/off bus if sharing with others. Just got back from third sports stay in a row but booked for POP next trip. But we never stay during the cheer/football competitions.

POP is beginning a room renovation ... but just got back from Sports and room felt fresh.

Just not drawn back to Movies anymore, cute, but lots of young kids ......... don't like Music at all, not the theme, not the layout (layout is different than all other values) and have had two bad stays there.

We have stayed at all of them except All-Star Sports. My family does not want to ever go back to Pop Century. We had the worst stay there. The resort was completely overrun with trash, unsupervised children and partying adults. We really liked our stay at the All-Star Movies. We stayed in the Mighty Duck section so it was an easy walk to the All-Star Music resort, if we wanted a change of scenery. We had pixie dust when we stayed at All-Star Music and they upgraded us to a family suite for free. It also holds a special place in my heart because it was the one and only time we stayed eight days.

I think if it was just my hubby and me, I would stay at the cheapest option...and spend the extra money on a special date night at a nice restaurant!

The resorts are very similar, with no big differentiation other than the themes. Individual experiences will vary depending on where they end up getting a room.

If price is the primary concern then just go with the cheapest available at the time.

I'm thinking of staying at All-Star Movies and requesting Mighty Ducks (son is a hockey player and Mighty Ducks fan). Is the fact that it's so far from the bus and food court an issue? Was it quicker to go to Music for the bus and snacks? Also, we would be going in the summer heat. I'd love your opinion!

It depends on where your room is as to which is closer. We stayed at Mighty Ducks and never walked to ASMu to ride bus etc.

We were on the top floor of Building 2 on the very end by the stairwell that is closest to All-Star Music. It didn't bother us at all to be that far from the bus and snacks. We honestly just walked down the stairwell and crossed a small roadway and we were at the All-Star Music bus stop and QS. We definitely felt it was closer for us to do this. We ate at their food court, and used the bus stop to go to the parks. When coming back to the room from the parks, we would just board whichever bus came first. We enjoyed our stay there, and found that even though the Mighty Ducks section isn't preferred for All-Star Movies...it felt like it was for the All-Star Music! :-)

I have stayed at POP and AS Music and my wife and I have returned to Music each year now since 2009. The reasons are this: First of all the crowds. We travel in February so there is usually a lower number of guests at both locations but you must take this into consideration. POP has 2,880 rooms while Music has 1,604 rooms. No matter how you look at it, POP will have more people in their pools, in their restaurant, in their gift shop and in the bus lines. Contrary to popular belief, the all stars DO NOT share buses except for the down times in the afternoon. It makes no sense to have a bus with only two people on it not stop off at the next resort to pick up two more travelers. It may add three to five minutes to your ride but who cares. Next, the staff. I found the staff at Music to be so much more hospitable and friendly than we found at the POP. The rooms are always clean. They are very accommodating on our last day to always extend our stay in the room until 5 PM as we always leave for a late flight home to Michigan. My brother just returned last month from staying at the POP and he remarked never again. He said the staff was downright rude. I found that hard to believe because I have never encountered a CM to be rude in all my travels down to the World, but I wasn't there so who knows? At Music we have made friends with many of the staff as we are there every year and it is like being greeted by family when you first arrive. Finally, it all comes down to how you wish to spend your hard earned money. This is the reason I choose not to stay at a moderate or premier hotel. I work hard for my money and as I am at the parks most of the day, why spend an arm and a leg for a room that I only use for sleep. Again, this is my wife and I traveling without children as you mentioned. We like our disney experiance which includes chidren having fun but we also like it to be quiet when we want to sleep. We have never had a problem at Music with noise or troublesome guests and I have been there for Pop Warner football and cheerleader competitions. You have to make your choice but I thought I would share the reason my wife and I have chosen All Star Music as our annual destination.

Just came back from a Music stay last week - great! On checkin day, we had a room concern - calling from room to call center was no help, but a wonderful manager at checkin helped us switch. It was very quiet at night - slept great. (That's luck of the draw depending upon your neighbors though). Property was very clean throughout.

We had one minor glitch - housekeeping was great throughout stay except for day before checkout - don't know what happened. We were out of the room late morning through late night with just a brief 1 hour stop in around 3pm. We noticed it hadn't been cleaned by 3, so put in a request by calling housekeeping extension from room phone (call center) and just for extra coverage, mentioned to housekeeper herself who was working nearby. Still no luck when we returned late night. But we had plenty of towels/supplies and we're pretty neat, so really didn't bother at that point. That was the only glitch and to me a minor one. The mgr went above and beyond to help us with that room switch on our first day, so I didn't bother her with this. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.
