We are checking into Pop Century on December 10 for a nine night vacation. After reading the boards it seems like a lot of people will be at Disney that weekend. Who else is checking in that day? What are our chances of getting a king size bed in the 70's section? It is a request on our reservations for what that is worth. What time should we try to check in to help our chances of getting what we want?

I'll be checking in at the CR for the weekend -- lots of people right now are reporting having a problem for this date finding a room on property at all so since you have your ressie -- be very happy! I know after reading some of these posts, I really am! Anyway, about your King room request...King rooms are in the preferred catagory generally, meaning you have to book that room catagory to begin with. As long as you booked it to have paid for a king room instead of hoping to get an upgrade, I'm sure you have a great chance of getting what you want. As for a particular bldng or section goes, as long as you put your request in when you booked, they will do their best to honor it -- just remember that requests are just that. I'd also reiterate the request at Check-in to remind the CM but you should be fine. If you're hoping for an upgrade though, being that the resorts are heavily booked, I wouldn't count on it. Oh, and IMO, I'd check in when you arrive - if the room is ready, they'll put you in it, if not, they'll at least know you've arrived and get you in ASAP. The earlier seems to work the better,in our experiences anyway;)

Have a great trip!

We're checking in on the 9th and I am hoping for the best because loads of folks are checking in earlier and seem to be staying through that weekend. We booked 6 nights, so am hoping for a good location. Not 70's or King, so no competition here!!! :)

Absolutely be sure you booked in the right catagory and include a request in your reservation. Be sure to nicely mention it at check-in and if they do not have what you hoped for ask what is available. :) The CM's are terrific!

On the 11th till the 13th, only 2 nights. :guilty: Wish it was more, but this is my 3rd visit this year to POP! I am hoping to get the 50's section, as I have already visited the 70's twice now. Good luck everyone! :bitelip:

Lots of people requesting 50's :( Me too!!

Good luck! My 2nd stay at POP this year :)

You don't have to pay extra for the king bed rooms at POP. What you CAN pay extra for is being placed in the 60's building.

I'd recommend deciding which is more important... King bed, or 70's buildings. This is important, because if there are no kings available in the 70's, but there are some in the 50's, you might not get it, because they might keep you in the 70's.

Also, what time are you checking in? The earlier you check in, the better chances of getting the king bed in the 70s (however, the room might not be clean & available until later on)

For room requests, I understand that 10 days out is the best time to contact the hotel for room preferences. By phone AND by fax are recommended (send the fax and call to confirm and review by phone.) List all the specifics that you can name. We are doing the same when our vacation is 10 days out. The response may vary from hotel to hotel, but I believe the procedure is the same.

Good luck!

I asked this a while back and the general consensus was that it is next to impossible. King rooms are rare and often requested. Many reported never getting a king room.

I had requested a King room myself, in the 80's building until I realized that requests for non smoking rooms were not always guaranteed too. :( For medical reasons, I must be a non smoking room, so I told them to forget all my other requests because if a NS room is not available for me when I arrive after midnight on the 1st, I will not be able to stay at the resort. I will literally have to change resorts and find somewhere else to stay until a NS room becomes available. :(

I was hoping for a NS/King/80's wing...

10 days out is too far out -- there's a good chance that the resort might not have recieved your reservation at that point.

It is so cool getting responses. Tyler we are hoping to check in around noon. Is this a time that is advantageous or not? Also, we requested the 70's because it seemed close to the buses. Tyler should we fax the resort or is that a bad idea and at what time should we do it and what is the protocol for doing such a thing? On a side note, some friends are checking into ASMO on the same day. They requested Toy Story theme building for their son, any one have any idea what their chances of getting that are? They will checking in sometime around 7:00 pm. Thank you for your help with this huge reply.

Calling CRO and having it placed on your reservation will be fine. Noon should also be fine... just make sure to reiterate your requests when you approach the desk.

I always send out my Request 4 days before arrival. And yes, they actually do acknowledge it when I arrive. However, I will be arriving late in the afternoon, so I doubt I will get exactly what I want. Just as long as I am IN the 50's section makes no difference to me.
