Ok guys pros and cons between the both of them - looked in the brochure and Disney All Stars seems slightly more expensive than Pop Century but both a 3 star budget hotel and not obvious to me what the difference is. :confused3

All stars Movies is more expensive as it is very popular as it is the most Disney themed of the resorts. The other All Stars resort should be about the same price of POP though.:confused3 POP seems popular as it is newer than the All Stars and does not share buses even though we stayed at All Stars Music last month and only shared buses when it was very quiet anyway. During busy times each resort had its own bus.

Hi, We had the same ponder too...

Pop Century is a lot newer resort only built about 4 years ago , where as All Stars is over 13 years old now !! Not much between them as far as i can work out, got friends that have stayed in both and said they prefer Pop & also my local travel agent was there last month he said Pop Century as All Stars look jaded and a lot of the rooms need a good refurb....But all down to personal choice i guess both got pros and cons i guess, Oh we booked Pop Century in the end also....

We preffered POP this time around compared to "Movies",however the Music resort looked nice, quiet and good theming.
We've picked POP again for next year...Movies looked very tired especially the foodcourt.:goodvibes

weve stayed at both pop and movies and def prefered pop. room wise they are the same - the shop / bar areas in pop are much better and bigger than in movies - there is also a lake and bridge which is a nice walk. the buses when we went to movies were a nightmare (september time) with one bus for all 3 all stars resorts and movies being the last one to be picked up it was often too full for anyone to fit on - i also thought this resort was further from most parks than pop? the theming in both are great though x x x

I think POP is the most disney themed resort, not all star movies. :S With all the huge icons/disney characters dotted everywhere. It's also the biggest of the the value ones if I'm correct?

I'm going to POP next year. I like the idea of the buses going straight to where you want and back instead of dropping off/picking people up every time.

I think POP looks more fun than the others. I can't wait to take a pic beside my year too! lol

All of the All stars rooms have gone through a refit recently so should actually look newer than at POP.

I have stayed at both, am staying at sports in a few weeks and stayed at pop in May. I find the location of POP more central to the parks and looks a little more funky. Pop is in 4 story buildings all stars 3 floors, but there is very little difference between the 2 really.

Have all the rooms been refurbed, somebody on here said only some of the rooms had been done in the All Stars,..... Let us know what your room was like please when you get back....

ps, have a great time....:wizard:

We thought our room at Music was very nice.:)

i've stayed in AS movies & music & POP - found pop to be VERY busy (1st Aug trip! so AS may have been the same!) the downside to pop for me is that it has more disabled rooms than any other hotel so sometimes the wait to get on buses was long due to them taking a while to load people on & buses filling up quickly with disabled passengers & their families (many had large family parties)
i dont for one second say this is wrong for the disabled but there were a lot of people abusing this service (saw people in the motorised vehicles boarding the bus & not knowing how to drive them & then next day running & jumping around the pool :sad2: ) & when your standing out in the August heat for 20 mins with no shade waiting for a bus........

We have booked Pop next year mainly because everyone I spoke to loved it. We are looking forward to trying it out next year.:)

When I eventually decide when to go WDW I think POP is where we will be staying. It looks like a lot of fun and colourful.

the pop and the all stars are usually the same price if you book it directly from disney...
they were this year when i booked DD's trip....

i've never stayed at the pop (only at the all star music and sports)..

DD has stayed in the pop as well as the all stars...
she thinks they're comparable and would be happy in any of them...

she said she very much enjoyed her stay at the pop...she only complained that the buses were crowded, but then the buses are also crowded at the all stars....so that's not much difference...

she liked the food selections in the food court at the pop better than at the all star music....

We've stayed in the family suite at All Star Music and it's quite nice for a value resort.

We're staying there staying there again for this upcoming trip in January.

:scared1: No-one has even mentioned the slushy machine at POP. Perchance I am mad, but that was how I decided where I wanted to stay.

Hi  Lisa....

Just adding my two cents... I had stayed at all AS and POP and had been going back to POP for the theming and for the "Hustle" :lmao: you know the dance... :p

ASMu Suites is nice and comfy... alot of the room ASMu and ASMo have been refurbished... not sure about ASSprt since I only stayed there ones and will not stay again not because of Disney but because it is mainly the center of School Kids Activities... very busy for me... if you think POP is busy .. try getting ASSprts when there is cheerleaders etc.. lots of high energy :faint:

Yes another big factor for POP is the Slushy Blueberry and Slushy Coke and the Fried chicken on Thursday, Friday and Saturday... and of course Matilda the Mouse keeper.. if ever you get her you are all set.. also the computer pool is very quiet and nice for laps in the AM and great for DIsmeets at night... esp'ly when another Dismeet is going on at Petals/Hippi Dippy Pool area already.

Also Pop... if you are bus'ing... and in a hurry to go back and dont mind taking the cab... there is a cheaper way to do it... if you are at EPCOT/DS take the ferry to Boardwalk and take the cab from there... and while you are at it... you can stop right infront of BW and stopped at the Hess Gas station for some snacks :thumbsup2 popcorn:: and the cab fare is not even $7 since it is very close... or was the meter broke :confused3

no no, you're definitely not mad - that's an EXCELLENT reason to pick pop..
it's the only value resort with a frozen drink machine....and better yet, it's included with the all you can drink mug....how much more perfect can it get???

The reason why Pop is less expensive is the slight difference in tax - the tax on All Stars rooms is 12% (may be 12.5%) and Pop (and the rest of the resorts in WDW) is slightly less - All Stars, due their their location, are situated in a different admin area in Florida geographically ( a different county - forget which one)

We have stayed at ASMo 4 times and Pop twice and plan on going back to Pop in May. Pop has IMO, a much better bus service - we have been disappointed in the buses in the last 2 All Star stays.

we got back from all star sports last week.its the first drop off
on way back from parks.nice and clean the bar by the pool is brill.
only thing is food court dose same thing every night and is limited
on choice.our rep from first choice very poor for info and late on first day.
popcorn:: popcorn::

I am not going to be much help as we are 50/50, we have stayed at both, last time in 2006 was pop and we are going in Feb 2009 and re-booked to go to pop.

My wife and I prefer Pop but my sons prefer ASMo [they are 15 and 19]. There is little to choose between them we have stayed at ASMo at least 5 times and only once at pop, we prefer pop becasue it is new, in my mind it is similar to both ASMo and CRB it is the best of both worlds, the rooms being new were nicer but I prefered the bar and pool area at ASMo, because the service at pop was extremely slow when we were there, but what swung it for us was the location, with the lake etc it was nicer to look at and walk about lol. [god I am getting old]

My sons prefer ASMo as it was like returning to see an old friend and they both felt more comfortable there and said in their opinion the food court was better and the shop also, but it is all opinion.

When we were in WDW Oct 2006 we had a few hours to spare and had decided to re-book so we went to ASMo for a few hours had something to eat and had a walk around, and we decided to book pop when we got back, it was also cheaper!!

I think it is personal choice and I would have no hesitation in staying at either, both have a lot going for them lol
