That must be fairly recent....the tie dye cheesecake was still in slices in early July

When we were there a few weeks ago, around Aug.3 or so they had both of the tie dye cheesecakes. One you could buy that is the normal slices and then the little round dessert cups like most of the DP desserts come in. At first we thought they had done away with the big slices, but they were still there.

Thanks xnascar2x saved me a trip to the food court this evening. :thumbsup2

See how less appealing it is now? At least to me it is. All the dessert on property that are now in cups aren't great. Wish they would go back.

Xnascar beat me to it, but it has taken me 20 minutes to figure out how to do this so...

Here is my pic of the Tie Dye Cheesecake. This is the only kind I saw. But in the elevator, they had a picture of the big slice.

Just wanted to say our week at POP last week was great!

This was our first Value resort stay. I knew our room would be smaller than the other resorts we have enjoyed, but I figured for the price, it would be OK.
I did not have much hope for the landscaping. I pictured wide, hot, stretches of concrete with huge, tacky icons every now and then. But really, the resort was very green, lots of plants, trees. It was very attractive.

Check-in was very smooth, very quick. I did have to visit the concierge desk to straighten out some magic band stuff, but it was quick and easy, too. Also, they gave me a credit for not having a working fridge, without any hassle- but I had to ask for it.

Of course the room was small, but it really met our needs well. It was very clean, though there were no towel animals- which was fine. Also, mousekeeping always left extra towels-great for the pool. The only thing I would have liked in the room was a coffeemaker.

The air conditioning was great. It stayed very cold all the time- I never toughed the setting all week. There did not seem to be any kind of sensor that turned the a/c off when we were not moving.

I was afraid the resort would be loud, but we never heard anything. It was very quiet in the room- we were on the 4th floor.

The bus service was great. We had one night leaving MK, when we all squeezed in to a bus, packed with people, strollers, a scooter...and the bus doors refused to shut. So the driver made us all get off, and move to another bus. There was another bus right there waiting, and everyone was nice, polite, and calm, as we were able to immediately board another bus. (This is more about transport than POP, I guess, but transportation seemed very smooth and organized as a whole this trip).

I just wanted to chime in with my opinion, because these were some of the things I had concerns about before our stay.

Yes, you can run around the entire lake. It's a nice path. Especially good for an early morning run; other times of the day you may run into walkers and smokers (there are DSAs along the path). I believe it is about 2 km around the lake.

Thank you! :-)

Some great info there! Appreciate you sharing! Even more excited for our stay in 23 days!

Ok,so we are headed to WDW in 33 days! And we are going to POP for the first time. And I have a few questions...
1. we are a group of 7, 5 adults, 2 kids, 1 six year old and one 16 month old, in 2 rooms, how hard is it to get adjoining rooms? Would like to be able to have kids and Grandpa be able to go to sleep when they want/early and be able to watch tv in the other room.
2. I have a 16 month old who is milk dependent and often in the middle of the night. Will getting a fridge be a problem for us?
3. My Dad, who is 93, in a wheelchair, what would be the best building room for him/us. Should we request to be close to food court or buses? Are there rooms close to parking? We will probably have a car. My mom and dad will often take the bus though. We haven't requested a handicap room though. He doesn't really need one, we've. Never had one before. He just has a hard time walking now a days. So when he does walk, walks must be short and easy. Are there rooms or building that are louder than others? Quieter would probably be better.

Thanks for your help. I am so excited! We haven't stayed on property in 3 years and I am ecstatic that we get to this time. Normally we have stayed at POR in the mansions. Size-wise how does it compare. Mainly how is the walk to the food court/ buses? Where is the bus stop? Is their only one stop? Thank you again! :) <3

You want to request "connecting" rooms, not adjoining rooms. Connecting rooms are those with an interior door that connect the two rooms. Adjoining rooms are just next to one another.

I would also suggest that a ground floor location might be better for your situation. There are elevators in the buildings, but if you cannot use stairs, it can add time on to any trip if you must first go to the elevators.

For me, I would be less concerned about the building than about getting connecting rooms on the ground floor. None of the buildings are that far from Classic Hall. Yes, at night, after a full day of themepark visiting it might seem like a far walk. Quite frankly, if you're tired, a 100 yard walk seems as bad as a 200 yard walk. If you have too many requests on your reservation, it can be harder for the room assigner to meet your requests.

With regard to the refrigerator situation, they are replacing all of the fridges in Pop. According to posts, some rooms have them. They said it would take 4 months when this was first announced in July. They seem to be ahead of schedule. Since you're still a month out, I wouldn't worry about this now. We stayed at BWI earlier this month and I brought a collapsible cooler just in case. We had a refrigerator, so I didn't need the cooler I brought. (Had I not brought it, we probably wouldn't have gotten a room with a fridge.) As you get closer to your check in date, there should be updates on the fridge situation at Pop.

Happy planning.

I "new" tie dye cheesecake was disappointing after seeing that huge slice on all the menus online. It was ok but we didn't get it more than once. My family loved the King cupcake though.

Sitting by the Hippy Dippy pool on a sunny afternoon listening to Mamma Mia play, more then makes up for the lacklustre food court! :cool1:

In your situation, I'd consider upgrading to a Preferred room. It would guarantee that you'd be close to the food court and buses. The standard rooms can be just as close to the food court and buses, but there's no guarantee. Check out the map http://s962.photobucket.com/user/br...PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg.html I think with mobility issues, I'd prefer a guarantee of proximity rather than relying on the room assigning person.

Then you could put your most important concern "connecting" as your only request without worrying about proximity to the food court/buses as all the "preferred rooms" are a reasonable distance.

You could add "quiet" or "near elevators" or "ground floor" but the fewer requests on your room reservation, the better.

Switch happened at the end of July... We stayed in the 60's section from July 20 to 26. Beginning of the trip we bought the old school cheesecake. We went to get one last slice before we left that last day and it was the new version :-( We were told the other version was no longer available. Did not like it as well. It was about cupcake size and the layer of red velvet cake on ours was more of a thin crust than an actual lump of cake. Praying they change it back!!
